When the kids were older, she spent time volunteering at The Salvation Army and in the lunch room at St. Thomas Moore. She and her husband were also deliverers for Meals on Wheels for several years.

On April 23, 1955 she was united in marriage to Theodore Paul Westrich in Scott City, Missouri. Just this year, they celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary. Mr. Westrich survives in Cape Girardeau, Missouri.

Along with her husband, survivors include three sons, Paul (Kara) Westrich of Jackson, Mark (Debbie) Westrich of Chaffee, and Ron (Debbie) Westrich of St. Charles, Missouri; six grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, and one great-great grandchild; two sisters, Virginia Ledford of Jackson, Tennessee and Fimble Enderle of New Hamburg; also, by additional family and friends.

Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by two sons, Rich and Ted Westrich; by three brothers, Paul Spies, Rulen Spies, and Ray Spies; by one sister, Barbara Westrich.
