In Loving Memory of Shirley M. Jones

Shirley M. Jones, daughter of the late Harold Haman Sr. and Willa Lea “Toots” (Nichols) Haman was born on May 16, 1939 Cape Girardeau, Missouri and departed her life on Monday, November 17, 2025 at her residence in Chaffee, Missouri at the age of 86. She passed away peacefully at home at 11:58 pm, surrounded by her loved ones.

Shirley was a wonderful mother to her one and only child, Wendy, the cherished grandmother of three, great-grandmother of ten and proud great-great-grandmother of three. Her grandchildren were her greatest joys-there was little she wouldn’t do for them, and even less she would ever tell them “No” about. Whether it was riding a rollercoaster she was terrified of, going down a water slide she had to be convinced to try, or allowing her granddaughters to play dentist on her for hours, she embraced every moment with them wholeheartedly.

Shirley also loved a good deal! A trip to the consignment shop or a good yard sale followed by a trip to Burger King was her idea of a good time! Her laugh could instantly brighten your day; there was truly no laugh like our Granny’s laugh. She was gentle and kind, yet also feisty-full of spunk and a spicy personality that will keep us laughing and reminiscing for years to come.

She carried a deep love for nature and all of God’s creations. Kind-hearted to the core, she refused to harm any living creature… well, unless it was a cricket. Her gentle spirit was matched by an unwavering love for Jesus, whom she adored with her whole heart.

A natural creator, Shirley had an extraordinary ability to see purpose, beauty, and potential in the simplest things. In her hands, rope became crown molding, and a roll of contact paper could transform a tired, worn table or vanity into a treasure. She also loved writing poems-capturing moments, memories, and stories from years gone by in her own heartfelt words.

Shirley was a former employee at Saint Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau, Missouri, and later worked at First Midwest Bank of Chaffee, now known as Southern Bank of Chaffee. She was a devoted member of the First Christian Church in Chaffee and cherished every moment spent with her daughter, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren.

She was first united in marriage to William “Bill” Sullivan, who preceded her in death. Later in life she married Roy Jones, who also preceded her in death.

Survivors include one daughter, Wendy Little of Chaffee; three grandchildren, Justin (Melissa) Sullivan, Aaron (Paige) Wilson, and Heather (Hunter) Marsh; ten great-grandchildren, Ashley (Cody) Kight, Austin Sullivan, Nate Sullivan, Nick Sullivan, Dalton (Alana) Wilson, Grayson Wilson, Harper Wilson, Maggie Marsh, Kinsley Marsh, and Dracen Marsh; three great-great-grandchildren, Braelyn Kight, Cayden Warren, and Beau Wilson; one brother, Harold (Sara) Haman Jr.; also by other relatives and friends.

Beside her parents and husbands, she was preceded in death by one sister, Jackie Kinder.

Pallbearers are Aaron Wilson, Dalton Wilson, Austin Sullivan, Nate Sullivan, Cayden Warren, Hunter Marsh, Cody Kight, and Kaden Lowery.

Honorary Pallbearers are Nick Sullivan and Grayson Wilson.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, November 22, 2025 from 11:00 until 1:00 at the Amick-Burnett Funeral Chapel in Chaffee. Funeral services will follow at 1:00 PM with Pastor Justin Sullivan officiating. Interment will take place at Union Park Cemetery.
