Betty Thomas Obituary
Betty Carroll Thomas, (Place), 85 years of Jackson, MO, passed away on Saturday,
October 11, 2025 at Life Care Center of Cape Girardeau, MO. She was born May 27, 1940, in Tylertown, Mississippi, to Lela Dodson and Joseph Manus Place. She married James Earl Thomas, Chaffee, MO on Sept. 24, 1984. He passed away on October 18, 2012, in Cape Girardeau, MO.
Betty retired from Proctor & Gamble Co., Cape Girardeau, MO in 1997. She was a lifetime member of Cape Girardeau VFW Post #3838 and was of the Catholic faith. She enjoyed fishing, working in her yard taking care of numerous plants and flowers and loved her cat, Moukie, and beloved dog and companion, JT.
Surviving is her sister-in-law, Diana Tankersley (Doyle) of Jefferson City, MO; nieces, Martha J. Place of St. Louis, MO and Rosanne Williams (Douglas) of Windsor, IL; dear friends and precious neighbors, Richard and Linda Bazzell, Jackson, MO.; nephews and great-nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, parents; her brothers, Cecil V. Place (Ella) and Thomas H. Place.
Visitation will be held from 10:00 am – 11:00 am on Thursday, Oct. 16, 2025 at Amick Burnett Funeral Chapel in Chaffee, followed by funeral service at 11:00 am with Rev. Joseph Kelly officiating. Interment will follow in the Union Park Cemetery in Chaffee.
