Clare Frances Jablonski

Clare F. Jablonski, age 97, recently of Columbus, NC died Thursday December 25, 2025 at Spartanburg Medical Center after an acute brief illness.

Clare was born in 1928 in Cleveland, Ohio, the second daughter of the late Bernard S. and Mary R. Jablonski. She grew up in Cleveland, Ohio and after high school attended Notre Dame College in Cleveland for a year. She started her career as a telephone operator in Cleveland, and continued it in Florida until her retirement from AT&T in October 1991, after 44 years. She then moved to Rutherford County, NC in 2000 and recently moved to an independent senior living apartment in Columbus, NC.

She has always loved animals, and had at least two cats at any one time. She enjoyed reading, gardening, working puzzles and relaxed watching all different types of sports. Clare had one older sibling, Colette Romzick who preceded her in death in 2016 at age 91. She is survived by her nieces and nephews and their families: Teresa Romzick (Coby Dixon) of Rutherfordton: Grace Benedict (Paul) of Muskegon, Mi: Mark Romzick (Laura) of Atlanta, Ga: Michael Romzick of Bay City, Mi: Peter Romzick of Oxford, Mi. and Daniel Romzick of Midland, Mi. She has several great nieces and nephews and their families.

A Memorial Mass will be held Friday January 2, 2026 at 12:10 PM at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Forest City, NC A reception will follow. Clare will be interred in Florida beside her parents. Crowe's Mortuary is assisting the Jablonski family with arrangements.
