Benford, Sr. and Bertha Lawrence Benford. Clarence Edward Binford, a devoted Man of God, entered eternal rest on July 9, 2025. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Sandra Marie Binford to this union two children were born and later married Barbara A. Binford, Brothers: Vern Benford, Mark H. Benford, Jr., Jimmie Henderson, and Joe Willie Benford, Sisters: Jeannetta Batey, Myra Benford, May Brown, Magnolia Jones, Louvena North, and Alberta Overall.
Clarence attended public school in Rutherford County, Tennessee and graduated from Holloway High School. Mr. Binford was a veteran of the United States Army where he served for 38 years and retired as a Master Sergent in 1997. During his time in the military, he acquired his licensed practical nurse degree on June 9, 1972. Mr. Binford served as an LPN working at the VA Hospital in Nashville and the Murfreesboro Veteran Home in Murfreesboro. He was proud serving his country, taking care of the veterans and loved talking to his fellow veterans about life in the military. He was also a member of the American Legion-Buster-Bedford Post 177 in Murfreesboro.
Mr. Binford accepted Christ at an early age, and he became a member of Webb Chapel AME Church that later change to The New Webb Grove AME Church and served faithfully until his death. He served as a Steward, Class Leader and a member of the Male Chorus and Sunday School Teacher. He was a very devoted member of his church.
He leaves to cherish his devoted and loving children, Edward (Lisa) Fitzgerald Binford and Angela Marie Binford; devoted and loving grandson, Clarence Micah (Josiah) Binford; loving sisters, Annie Marie Butler and Willie M. Avent; three step-children, Sharhonda Pope, Barry Johnson, and Thomas Bean (deceased); devoted niece Jo-ann Proctor; devoted nephew, Robert Benford; devoted class members of Holloway High School Class of 1956, numerous nephews, nieces, cousins and friends.
