Clarence “Buzz” Steve Busbee, 71, passed away Monday, August 18, 2025.
Buzz was the son of the late retired Director of Aiken Department of Public Safety James Carroll Busbee Sr. (Rosemary) and Roseanne Hubbard Cooper (Gerald). He was also pre-deceased by his siblings James “Jimbob” Carroll Busbee Jr. (Michelle), Robert Flynn Busbee, and Carrolanne Busbee Proto (Richard). A lifelong resident of Aiken, Buzz worked in various roles before retiring to include Facilities Manager at Glaxosmithkline, Manager at Piggly Wiggly, and volunteer firefighter for Aiken County Public Safety. His passions in life included spending time with family, fishing, hunting, going to the beach, and Gamecocks football. He was the type of man who never knew a stranger, sharing stories about his life and experiences with everyone he met. Often described as a “kind and sweet man”, he was known to hand out candy to people who helped him, whether it was at his favorite grocery store (Publix in Aiken) or staff at the doctors’ offices.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 46 years, Debbie Ridenour Busbee; daughter, Jennifer B. Roemmich (Caleb), Aiken; sons, Steven Chadwick Busbee (Jamie), Aiken, and Philip Brandon Busbee, Aiken; grandchildren, Daniel Brice Fishburne (Cheyenne), Joesph Cameron Fishburne, Summerlin Claire Fishburne, Sophie Leigh Busbee, and Caroline Rose Busbee; and all his other family members to include his many beloved nieces and nephews, who knew him as “Uncle Buzz”.
A visitation will be held from 5:30-7:30 PM Friday evening at SHELLHOUSE-RIVERS FUNERAL HOME, INC., 715 E. PINE LOG RD., AIKEN, SC
