Clarence Carl Chambers, Jr. "Wink" – August 17, 1938 – July 17, 2025, was born to Carl and Essie Chambers in Walhalla, SC.

Wink retired from Anderson City Police Department in Anderson, SC, June of 1994 where he was a sergeant in the traffic division. During his nearly three decades of service, he was known for his kindness, courtesy, and unwavering dedication to the community. Always helpful and considerate in his interactions with the public, Chambers stood out as an officer of exceptional character and integrity – truly an officer of his own caliber."

Wink is survived by his three daughters, Celina (Tootsie) and Greg Dutton of Williamston, SC, Debbie and Donnie Wardlaw of Anderson and Delina and Roy Alewine of Belton; Grandchildren – Celina, Michael, Christopher, Christy, Dillon, Mercedes and Austin; Great Grandchildren – Mallorie, Brett, Jaylynn, Mattie, Kamren, Serenity, Kaitlyn, Callie and Ila Rose; Great Great Grandchildren – Emma Louise, Carson, Kylan and Hudson.

Wink is preceded in death by his wife of 59 years, Ann Dalton Chambers; a grand daughter, Victoria Lynn Wardlaw; brothers, Roy Chambers and Clyde Chambers and sisters, Betty Stalnaker, Florence Reid, Jeanette Jennings, Carrie Chambers and Myrtle McCoy.

When the girls were growing up and even after they were married, Wink and Ann would always spend a lot of time at the beach camping. It was considered their home away from home. Wink was an amazing carpenter when he had the time to work on projects. Wink loved NASCAR, Clemson Tiger Football, Atlanta Braves and watching golf on the TV. Wink knew more about his iphone and Apple watch than most others.

Wink was very loyal to his church, Covenant Baptist, in Anderson, SC, where he was the director of security. Wink has always kept the security of people at heart and has always prepared those who are on the security team to do the same. Wink loved his Lord, his wife, his girls, his family, his security team family and his law enforcement family.

The family will receive friends on Thursday, July 24, 2025, from 5:00 pm – 8:00 pm at The McDougald Funeral Home.
