Clarence Cornelius Jr. Obituary

Clarence Cornelius Jr., a dedicated master electrician and proud owner of his own electrical company, passed away peacefully at the age of 73, surrounded by the love of his family on October 23, 2025. Born in New Orleans and raised in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, Clarence's journey began on August 31, 1952. He was a spirited individual who left an indelible mark on everyone he encountered.

With a heart full of compassion, Clarence was a beloved member of IBEW Local Union 995. His colleagues and clients admired him not just for his superior skills in electrical work but for his willingness to share his wealth of knowledge. He took great joy in teaching others, illuminating their lives in more ways than one.

Clarence was also a proud 1970 graduate of McKinley Sr. High School, where his talents shined both academically and athletically, playing baseball in high school and attending Southern University. In the years that followed, he built not only a successful career but also a wonderful family. He was immensely proud of his children: Charles Varmall (Kim), Terence George Cornelius (Leneka), Terrilyn Nicole Cornelius Spears (Colon), Travis Jermaine Cornelius, and Brandon Maurice Cornelius (Keara). As a devoted father, he derived immeasurable happiness from watching his children thrive, and they stand as a testament to his love and commitment.

Clarence found joy in the simple pleasures of life—fishing, playing dominoes, enjoying cold Budweiser with friends, and sharing laughter while discussing politics. It was in these moments, surrounded by his family and friends, that he truly illuminated the lives of those around him. His warm spirit and kind demeanor earned him many friends, who will forever cherish the memories of laughter and deep conversations spent in his company.

He leaves behind his beloved wife, Melissa Varmall Cornelius, along with 16 adoring grandchildren and one great-grandchild, who were all the pride and joy of his life. He is also survived by his brother, John Edward Cornelius (Pamela), and the mother of two of his children, Darlene Denise Cornelius, among other relatives and friends who loved him dearly.

Clarence was predeceased by his parents, Clarence and Mildred Cornelius, whose legacy of love and support he carried throughout his life. He accepted Christ at an early age, drawing strength from his faith and embodying the principles of kindness and generosity.

As we celebrate the life of Clarence Cornelius Jr., let us remember the light he brought into our lives, the lessons he imparted, and the love he shared so freely. Family and friends are invited to pay their respects during the viewing on November 1, 2025, at the Bible World Christian Center in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM, followed by a funeral service at 11:00 AM. Clarence will be interred at Resting Place Memorial Garden, where he will continue to look over his family with a watchful, loving eye.

Though he has left this earthly realm, Clarence's legacy will live on in the hearts of those who had the privilege of knowing him. He was indeed a master of his craft—and of life itself.
