Mr. Clarence Ezra “Zeke” Duncan, of New Johnsonville, formerly of Linden, passed away Tuesday September 3, 2024 at his home.
He was born on Brush Creek in Linden, TN on May 5, 1936 to the late Alvin Duncan and Beulah Smith Duncan.
Ezra attended Parnell Elementary School and graduated from Linden High School in 1955. He was a proud member of the historic 1955 State Champion Linden High School Boys Basketball team.
Ezra married his high school sweetheart, Ruby Lee Marlin, on December 31, 1955 in Corinth, MS. He was a long-time employee of DuPont for over 35 years.
He was a man of many talents and did not believe in idle hands. He was an avid bird dog trainer, bird hunter, beekeeper, guitar player, fish fryer, and a connoisseur of ham and eggs. He served in many community offices such as Auxiliary Policeman, Civil Defense, basketball referee, member of the Rod and Gun Club, Democrat Prime Club, Equalization Board, Humphreys County Rehabilitation Center Board, jury commissioner, insurance salesman for Woodmen of the World, Elder of the New Johnsonville Church of Christ, and all-around neighborhood handyman.
In addition to his parents he was also preceded in death by his wife Ruby Marlin Duncan, brothers Eunice, Scott, and Tom Duncan, and his sisters Jewell Kaskey, Lorraine Duncan, Lottye Helen Rodgers, and Jo Carolyn Lenk.
Survivors include his daughters; Belinda Gail (Curtis) Tritapoe, Mary Jane (Buddy) Dickey, and Rita Lee (Andy) Dodd; a sister Beverly (Bryan) Zimmerman, six grandchildren; Steven Tritapoe, Russell (Teal) Tritapoe, Phillip Tritapoe, Jana Dickey, Cody (Ashley) Taylor, and Mitchell (Heather) Taylor; numerous great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
