Clarence Edward Hawthorne, 74, of Goodwine passed away on Saturday, August 23, 2025 at his residence. He was born on January 25, 1951 in Watseka, a son of Alva Leroy and Mary Jane (Miller) Hawthorne and they preceded him in death along with one brother, Michael Hawthorne.

Clarence married Elizabeth A. Alcorn in Milford on April 15, 1972.

Surviving are his wife, Libby Hawthorne of Goodwine; three daughters, Michelle (Mark) Linder of Texas, Stacie (Michael) Trumann of Milford, and Nicole (Jeremy) Erp of Paris, Illinois; five grandchildren, Brianna Linder, Joshua Linder, Emily Trumann, Zane Trumann, and Luke Trumann; two great-grandchildren, Ruegar Menschel and Lorelai Menschel; siblings, Nancy Lee of Milford, Steve Hawthorne of Milford, and Rosie Allen of Woodland; sibling in-laws, Don Alcorn, Rebecca Baker, Robert Rogers, William Rogers, James Rogers and their families.

Clarence was a long-time member of the Milford Christian Church where he served as a church board member. He was a past school board member at Bryce-Ash Grove. He enjoyed woodworking and mowing the grass. Clarence took great pride in being the caretaker at Amity Cemetery for over 40 years. Clarence had a wonderful sense of humor.

Visitation will be on Thursday, August 28, 2025 from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the Baier Funeral Home in Watseka and also one hour prior to the funeral service at the church. Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, August 29, 2025 at the Milford Christian Church with Rev. Brent Zastrow officiating. Private burial at a later date.

Memorials may be made to the Milford Christian Church or Iroquois Memorial Hospice.
