Clarence Peter Kramp, 90, a lifelong resident of Corunna and Owosso, passed away peacefully at Welcome Home Assisted Living on Monday, March 3, 2025. Funeral service will be held on Monday, March 10, 2025 at 11:00am at Watkins Brothers Funeral Homes, Corunna Chapel, 302 W. Corunna Ave. burial will follow in Hillcrest Memorial Gardens. The Kramp family will receive friends at the funeral home on Sunday from 2:00pm-6:00pm.
Clarence was born on January 25, 1935 in Corunna, Michigan, the son of Cecil Clare and Mabel Elizabeth (Hansen) Kramp. He married Marilyn Peters on June 15, 1957, after sweeping her off her feet while she taught at Shiawassee Street School where he worked part-time as a janitor. He built the home that they resided in and raised their family for 67 years. Clarence retired from GM Truck assembly after 33 years as a paint mixer. After retirement he continued to work for the Corunna Schools as a janitor. He also served in the National Guard for 9 years; he was stationed in Grayling, Michigan.
Clarence dearly loved his family. He had many friends that he cherished and often went fishing, hunting and drank coffee with at the local restaurants. He taught hunter safety classes to future hunters, and participated in the 4-H Leader Dog club with his daughters. He loved to solve problems and build things. He could fix about anything that was broken. He self-taught himself to weld and repaired many items for his neighbors and friends. He was a true outdoorsman; he took many trips to Canada to hunt bear, caribou, antelope and moose, he also loved fishing trips in Ontario.
He cherished his time being involved with the 4th Artillery – British Group reenacting the Revolutionary War. He traveled to various places with the canon group. He belonged to the AM-Vets in Perry, Ducks Unlimited and the Dog and Gun Club. He attended church at Calvary United Methodist Church in Flint and then later in life he returned to Corunna United Methodist Church where he served as a trustee. He will be deeply missed by his family and friends.
Clarence is survived by his wife, Marilyn, his daughters, Martha (Bob) Atchinson, Beth (Dennis) Prawdzik, his grandchildren, Sarah (Jordan) Montgomery, Rebekah (Brenden) Switzer, Hannah (Geoffrey) Still, Justin (Kelsey) Prawdzik and Megan (Adam) Huckins and his great grandchildren Abigail, Daniel and Grayson.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Cecil and Mabel Kramp.
Memorial contributions in Clarence's name can be directed to the family for future designation.
