Clarence Spohr Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Miller Funeral and Cremation Services, Inc. - Rochester on Dec. 10, 2025.
Clarence Spohr passed away on Dec. 9, 2025, at the age of 82. He is predeceased by his parents, Kenneth W. and Eleanor Spohr, and sister-in-law Diane Spohr.

Clarence is survived by his wife of 62 years, Mariann; children Kenneth (Katie) Spohr, Bethann Guelzow; granddaughters, Kimberly (Josh) VanEpps, Emily Guelzow; great granddaughter, Lexie VanEpps; step-grandchildren Luke Rath, Elizabeth (Brendon) Sodoma, John and Noah Rath; brother, Leslie Spohr; nieces, nephews, and many other relatives and friends. Clarence is also survived by his beloved dogs Chloe and Sophie.

In January 1999, Clarence retired from Mixco Lightnin where he was a machinist and medic for over 35 years.

His first love was the fire department. During his more than 60 years of service, Clarence was a member of the Honeoye Falls, Lima and Rush Fire Departments and was a member of the Henrietta Fire Co. #1 for over 54 years where he was Fire Police Captain and a Board of Director. He was a member of the original HFD Extrication team and a member of the Henrietta Ol' Henries Drill Team. When he could no longer serve as an interior firefighter, he transitioned to Fire Police. He became a member and president of the Monroe County Volunteer Fire Police Association. He also served as a member and elected officer of the New York State Volunteer Fire Police Association along with other fire associations.

Throughout the years, Clarence had many passions such as camping, coaching his son's small fry football team, being a cub scout leader, a member of the Henrietta Volunteer Ambulance, and taking bus trips to NASCAR races. He enjoyed wood working and selling his wares at local craft shows with Mariann. Clarence loved a road trip, especially ones to see family or see his beloved New York Yankees.

He was a member of Pinnacle Lutheran Church.

To know Clarence, you would know he was all about socializing. A stranger was a friend he hadn't yet met.

Friends and family may call MONDAY December 15th from 11AM to 1PM at Pinnacle Lutheran Church (250 Pinnacle Rd., Rochester, NY 14623) where Clarence's Funeral Service will be held at 1PM. Interment Private. The family asks for the courtesy of no flowers. Please consider a donation to Pinnacle Lutheran Church (WEBSITE) or The FASNY Firefighter's Home (WEBSITE).
