Ray Taylor, 88, of Ozark, Missouri, passed away peacefully on September 23, 2025. Born on April 19, 1937, in Fisk, Missouri, Ray lived a life marked by dedication to family, service to his country, and a quiet strength that touched all who knew him.

Ray graduated from Poplar Bluff High School in 1955. Shortly after, he answered the call to serve his country and enlisted in the United States Army, from 1956 to 1959, as a teletype operator. He was stationed in France for a year, he served with honor and pride.

Following his military service, Ray began a long and steady career at General Motors. For over three decades, he worked as an assembly line inspector-a role that suited his meticulous nature and strong work ethic. His commitment to excellence and reliability earned him the respect of colleagues throughout his career.

Ray's greatest devotion was always to his family. He shared a loving marriage, that started with a blind date, lasting nearly 64 years with his wife Earlene. Together they raised four children: Ken (Sharon), Richard, Becky (Brenton), and Joe (Ramona). Ray was a constant source of support and guidance for his children and extended family alike.

He found immense joy in being a Papa and great-Papa. His grandchildren-Jason (Justen), Adam, Aaron (Sara), Andrew, Emily (Dillon), Matthew (Stephanie), Kenan (Chey), Caitlin, Collin, and Zac-were each cherished deeply. His great-grandchildren-Benjamin, Rosie, Liam, Nate, and Alex-brought him endless delight in his later years.

Ray is also remembered by his brother June; sisters Barb and Shirley; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and in-laws who were touched by his kindness and generosity. He was preceded in death by his parents John and Ruby; brothers Cecil, Luke, Darlie, Dean; and eight half-brothers and sisters.

A man of quiet wisdom and gentle humor, Ray was known for being easy to talk to-a trait that made others feel instantly at ease in his presence. He had a kind heart and thoughtful nature that left lasting impressions on those around him. An avid reader throughout his life, Ray found comfort in books and knowledge.

Above all else, Ray was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, uncle-and friend. His unwavering dedication to those he loved will remain an enduring legacy.

No formal services are planned. Full military honors are being planned for a later date at Missouri Veterans Cemetery in Springfield, MO.

May the memory of Ray Taylor bring comfort to all who knew him and continue to inspire love and dedication across generations.
