Clarice Aloma Vanterpool, affectionately known as CoCo, was born on January 7, 1957, on St. Thomas, U.S. Virgin Islands, to Charles, Jr. and Enid Vanterpool. She was the fifth of eleven children and the firstborn of their three sets of twins.
A woman of quiet faith, Clarice accepted the Lord at Frederick Evangelical Lutheran Church, where she was baptized and confirmed. She remained devoted throughout her life, worshiping faithfully both in person and virtually after relocating to Maryland.
Clarice was educated in the Virgin Islands public school system and graduated from Charlotte Amalie High School, Class of 1975. Her professional life included service with Vitelco, hospitality positions at the Ritz-Carlton on St. Thomas and the Westin Hotel on St. John, and later a distinguished career at the Roy Lester Schneider Regional Medical Center, where she served as a Communications Operator and Assistant Supervisor.
Known for her soft-spoken, easygoing nature, Clarice was deeply devoted to her family. She was a loving mother to her only child, Atisha Pringle, and a devoted grandmother to Elwyn III ("EJ") and Elyssa Pringle, always making sure they knew how special and deeply loved they were.
Clarice also shared her love of music as a member of True Ebony alongside her sisters Charlene Bowry and Lauris Questel.
On January 2, 2026, Clarice peacefully transitioned after a courageous illness. She was preceded in death by her parents, Charles, Jr. and Enid Vanterpool; sisters Amoret and Doris Vanterpool and Lauris Questel; brothers Charles III and Dennis Vanterpool; and nephew Ron Rivera.
Her memory lives on through her beloved daughter, Atisha Pringle; son-in-love, Elwyn Pringle, Jr.; and grandchildren Elwyn III ("EJ") and Elyssa Pringle. She is also survived by her sisters Eurita and Shorna Vanterpool, Charmane Taylor (Brian), Charlene Bowry (Calvin), and Denise Wallace; nieces Arnette Georges, Marie Haynes (Dwayne), Gaynell, Shaynell, Michelle Vanterpool, and Clarissa Taylor; and nephews Richard Biscombe (Deborah), Alderan Chitolie, Duane Questel (Boneisha), D'Verne Pickering, Andrease Moore (Tanisha), Lucien England Jr., Lucien Wallace III, Brian Q. Taylor, Tevin Bowry, Shawn Sprauve, and Darnell Vanterpool; along with many great-nieces, great-nephews, cousins, and dear friends.
