Mr. Lewis Clark Gardner, age 85, of Brooks, KY, passed away peacefully on Thursday, September 12, 2024 with his loving family by his side after an illness. Mr. Gardner was born in Orleans, Indiana on February 10, 1939 to the late Lewis W. Gardner and Faye Wright Gardner. He was a hardworking, retired millwright with many talents. His life adventures included traveling, motorcycle riding, woodworking, fishing and gardening. He was a 50-year member of the Salt River Masonic Lodge #180 F&AM. He was a man of wisdom, kindness, and patience and a friend to many. He loved his wife, his family and God.
In addition to his parents, his stepson, Billy Wurfel and sisters, Ava McClintock and Wilda Baker preceded him in death.
He leaves to cherish his memory, his loving wife of 39 years, Doris June Haag Gardner; children, Lana Porter (Joe), LeeAnn Mingus (Mike), Lynda Straton (Armand) and Mike Gardner; stepdaughter, Debbie Hagan (Jerry); grandchildren, Matthew, Amanda, Tyler, Emily (Ryan), Megan and Wesley; step-grandchild, Rachel (Sunny); great-grandchildren, Taylor, Aiden, Brianna, Zac and J.C.; great-great grandchild, Dawson; step great-great grandchildren, Vani and Bal Reddy; sister, Alice Bently (Dave); his beloved dog, Armani and a host of other dear family and friends.
Funeral service will be held at 11:30 on Wednesday, September 18, 2024 in the chapel of Schoppenhorst, Underwood and Brooks Funeral Home (Preston Hwy. at Brooks Rd.) with burial to follow at Highland Memory Gardens. Friends and family may pay their respects on Tuesday from 1:00 pm until 8:00 pm and on Wednesday from 10:00 am until the time of service at the funeral home.
Expressions of sympathy may be made to the KY Humane Society, Wayside Christian Mission or to Potter Children's Home and Family Ministries.
