Clarzell Bankston Simms

Clarzell Bankston Simms, 79, was born on September 22, 1946, and peacefully passed away on December 25, 2025, Christmas Day, surrounded by her loving children, Ursula Simms, Charlotte Simms Dickson, and Uel Russell Simms, her niece Sharron Melton, and her cherished grandchildren, Robert Sawyer Jr., Chloe Sawyer, and Uel McCoy Simms, and son-in law Kelvin Dickson.

Though our hearts are heavy, we find comfort in knowing that Heaven welcomed an angel on such a sacred day, and that Heaven itself is rejoicing.

Clarzell was preceded in death by her beloved mother, Dorothy L. Bankston; her father, Jimmy Bankston; her sister and brother-in-law, Lavada and Forest Melton; her former husband, Uel Simms Jr.; and her cherished aunts, uncles, and family members. We take solace in knowing she is now reunited with them, embraced in eternal peace and love. She is survived by her brother, Jimmy Banston and wife Nancy Bankston; nieces, Beth, Britt, and Nancy Bankston; Bruce Bankston and family; along with a host of many other remaining family members.

She attended Phillis Wheatley High School in San Antonio, Texas, graduating in 1964. During her high school years, Clarzell was a member of the Honor Society, served as Sweetheart Ball Queen, was part of the Miss W Queen Club, and proudly participated in the Pep Squad-roles that reflected her leadership, grace, and vibrant spirit.

Clarzell began her professional career at Southwestern Bell and later retired from Wesleyan Nursing in Georgetown, Texas, where she served as Supervisor of Environmental Services (EVS). She spent her remaining years in Houston, Texas, surrounded by family and deeply loved.

Clarzell was one of the most giving and selfless people one could ever know. She had a deep and abiding love for her family, especially her children, and poured her heart into caring for others. Her love for children was unmistakable; they were naturally drawn to her warmth, kindness, and gentle spirit. Rooted in compassion, generosity, and unconditional love, Clarzell lived a life of purpose and faith. She leaves behind a lasting legacy of devotion to family and service to others that will continue to inspire all who knew her.

She will be deeply missed, lovingly remembered, and forever held in our hearts.
