It is with loving remembrance that we announce the passing of Ms. Classie Elizabeth "Wanda" Lowery Benjamin, 69, of
Carrabelle, Florida.
Homegoing Services for Ms. Benjamin will be 11:00AM, Saturday, December 20, 2025, at the Assembly of God (Carrabelle), with interment to follow in Isle of Rest Cemetery in Carrabelle.
At the request of the Benjamin Family, there will be no public viewing.
Classie "Wanda" Elizabeth Lowery Benjamin, was born March 17, 1956, in
Carrabelle, Florida (Franklin County), to the late Classie and Henry Lowery, Sr.
At an early age, Classie Benjamin professed her faith in Jesus Christ and was baptized at Scott's Temple in
Carrabelle, Florida. She later became a member of Philadelphia P.B. Church of
Carrabelle, Florida. She cherished classic gospel music! "Goin' Up Yonder" was her favorite song.
She attended public schools in Franklin County and graduated from Carrabelle High School. After high school, she enrolled in Florida A&M University's Upward Bound Program. Following that, she worked for the Franklin County School District at Carrabelle High School. She then attended Gulf Coast Community College in Port St. Joe, Florida, where she earned a certification in Criminal Justice. After obtaining her certification, she began working at Wakulla Correctional Institution before transferring to Franklin County Correctional Institution, where she eventually retired after 25 years of public service.
Classie Benjamin was a loving mother to her granddaughter, nieces, and nephews during her lifetime. The memories and inspiration she gave us throughout the years will always be treasured. She will always be known as the "Comedian of the Family."
Before her passing, she remained a candid, outspoken person, fashionably dressed, and loved old movies, as well as Law & Order.
Classie, affectionately known as Wanda, leaves behind a legacy filled with love and devotion. She will be remembered fondly by her daughter, Rachel Benjamin; her son, Marvin Benjamin Jr.; her granddaughter, Trinity Elizabeth Barron, all of whom are from Crawfordville, Florida; and her beloved cat, Precious. Additionally, she cherished her niece: Kela Bishop, and her nephews Solomon (Denita) Lowery, and Devin (Lindsey) Timmons.

Tallahassee, FL), Cherry Rankin (
Tallahassee, FL), Carol (Calvin) Julis (Richmond Hill, GA), Vivan (Craig) Bates (Chattahoochee, FL), Vanessa (Bobby) Spears (Marianna, FL); Two godchildren, Vanilla Johnson and Joseph, Jr., also known as Bigum.
It is our esteemed honor to have been entrusted with the care of Ms. Benjamin and to serve the Benjamin Family.
