Funeral services for Mr. Claude Douglas Brewer will be held on Monday, November 3, 2025, at 1:00 p.m. at Walnut Ridge Baptist Church with Bro. Bobby White officiating. The visitation will be held from 12:00 p.m. until 1:00 p.m. prior to the service. The burial will follow at Union Baptist Church Cemetery in Quitman, Louisiana.
Claude was born April 21, 1935, in State Line, Mississippi to Asa Reese and Annie Elizabeth Dearman Brewer. He passed away on October 29, 2025, in Ruston, Louisiana.
Claude grew up in Mississippi with his sister Phoebe and brothers Elvin and Leroy. He worked for many years in Mississippi on oil rigs. He later moved to Louisiana to work in the pulp wood industry, and then for Arcadia Oilfield Supply, when he finally retired. Claude was one to never sit still. He was constantly working on something in the yard, feeding the horses, or cutting up firewood. Claude was dedicated to his church, Walnut Ridge Baptist Church, where he was a deacon. He believed that Sunday was a day of rest. Claude never met a stranger. He loved talking to people, especially on Friday nights at Catfish Inn. Claude’s greatest love in life was his family. He was a faithful husband to Bonnie, and great father and stepfather. But his greatest joy in his life was his grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren. He was always proud to tell you about them.
Claude is preceded in death by his parents Asa and Annie Brewer, daughter Donna Brewer Kelly, sister Phoebe Newsome, and brothers Elvin and Leroy Brewer.
Left to cherish his memories is his wife Bonnie Jimmerson Brewer, sons Doug Brewer and Darryl Brewer and wife Cindy, step daughter Sheryl Humphrey and husband Terry, step son Harold Glen Carr and wife Sue, grandchildren, Mitchell, Adrian, Rusty, Alexis, DJ, Tori, Carla, Toby, Tana, Joey, and Brandon, by 20 great grandchildren, 11 great-great grandchildren, sister-in-law Glendon Kirkham, and by numerous other nieces, nephews, and other loving family and friends.
Honoring Claude as pallbearers will be Rusty Brewer, Adrian Kelly, Mitchell Kelly, Terry Humphrey, Joey Carr, Brandon Diel, Mitchell Kelly, and Chris Mays. Serving as honorary pallbearers will be all of the grandsons, great grandsons, and great-great grandsons.
