It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Mr. Claude William Capell. Mr. Capell passed away Monday evening, January 26th, 2026, surrounded by his family while at Carolina Pines. He was 69 years old.
A native and lifelong resident of Hartsville, Mr. Capell was a son of the late Arthur & Gladys Wilson Capell. He graduated from Hartsville High School. From an early age, he had a special love for music and especially loved playing guitar for family and friends. He was a master carpenter and enjoyed cooking and gardening in his spare time.
He is survived by his wife, Cindy Capell; children, Michael Capell and Carmen Capell; granddaughter, Kelsey Watford and fiancé, Jacob Finn; goddaughter, Katie Kissiah Walters; and his beloved grand-pup, Nova. William is also survived by his siblings: Vivian, Carl (Louise), Diane, James (Sherry), Kenny (Cindy), Brenda, Sheila, and Brad; also, numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his stepfather, Theo Hendrix and a brother-in-law, Bill Stokes.
His funeral service will be conducted at 2 o’clock on Thursday afternoon, January 29th, 2026, from the Chapel of Norton Funeral Home. Reverend Ladell Humphries will officiate with a committal following in the Newman Swamp United Methodist Church Cemetery. The family will be receiving friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
