1935 – 2025
Claude Earl Marek, 89, of Carson City, Nevada, passed away peacefully on January 24, 2025.
He was born February 19, 1935, in Spruce, Michigan, the son of Constantine & Lillian Hildegard Marek.
He served in the United States Airforce from 1957 to 1961, then transferred to the Airforce Reserves - where he was honorably discharged in 1963. While serving, he earned a Good Conduct Medal.
Claude married Judith (Judy) Vodvarka in 1958. They celebrated their 66th anniversary last October. He tells the story of their meeting through a blind date and knew after their third date he wanted to marry her. Three months later he proposed. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He passed on his skills and traits to his children who will carry them on.
He retired as a machinist. Along with Judy, they spent some time traveling the country. They settled in Carson City, where he enjoyed growing his own squash and tomatoes each spring.
He was preceded in death by his parents, son Tim Marek and nine siblings. He is survived by his wife Judy, daughters Pat Moss and Lori McGarry, son Daniel (Scott) Marek, as well as his five grandchildren, Desiree Johnson, Megan Becker, Monique Lee, Aaron McJones, Melanie McGarry, and seven great-grandchildren.
The family will be doing a private celebration of life.
His ashes will be placed in the Northern Nevada Veteran's Memorial Cemetery, located in Fernley, Nevada.
