Claude Joseph Swartzendruber, 95, of Goshen, Indiana, passed away peacefully on September 1, 2025. He was born on July 14, 1930, in Bay Port, Michigan, to Joseph and Emma (Shetler) Swartzendruber.

On April 7, 1956, Claude married the love of his life, Shirley (Yoder), with whom he shared 69 years of marriage. Together they built a life centered on faith, family, and fellowship with friends.

Claude is survived by his wife, Shirley; his son, Troy Swartzendruber; and three grandchildren, Kaitlyn, Nicholas, and Elise. He was preceded in death by his parents; five brothers, William, Paul, Walter, Edward, and Omar; and two sisters, Alma Heap and Bess Gabriel.

Claude attended Hesston College and spent much of his career working at Edd's Supplies in Shipshewana, Indiana. A lifelong sports enthusiast, he especially enjoyed golf, cheering on the Chicago White Sox, and following Indiana University basketball. An accomplished golfer, he proudly recorded four holes-in-one during his playing years.

He was a devoted member of College Mennonite Church, where his faith was a guiding presence in his life.
Visitation will be Monday, September 8, from 5-8 p.m. in the Gathering Rooms at College Mennonite Church, 1900 S. Main St., Goshen, and one hour prior to the 11 a.m. funeral service on Tuesday, September 9, also at College Mennonite Church in Goshen, Indiana.

Claude will be remembered for his love of family, his crazy sense of humor, and the joy he found in both sports and simple pleasures. His legacy lives on in the lives he touched.

Memorial contributions in Claude's honor may be given to College Mennonite Church Music Fund.
