Born May 6, 1953, in San Diego, CA, she was the daughter of Richard G. Johnson (Jongordan) and Marion F. Moses Johnson.

She founded and operated Monarch Medicinals in Sebastopol, CA, where she also served as a promoter of cannabis reform and an educator on its medicinal values.

She was a practicing Buddhist and a member of the Soka Gakkai International, USA, a Buddhist organization devoted to spreading peace, humanism, and global citizenship through the principles of Nicheren Buddhism and is committed to dialogue and nonviolence based on the conviction that individual happiness and the realization of peace are inextricably linked.
