December 1, 1943 to August 4, 2025

Claudie, known as Neal Brookman, passed away on August 4, 2025, in Marysville, CA.

Born December 1, 1943, in Upland, CA, he lived most of his young life in Southern California.

He married the love of his life, Susan "Sue," in January of 1966, prior to being deployed to Vietnam where he served in the United States Army.

Upon returning from Vietnam, Neal found his calling in law enforcement and started his career with the Irwindale Police Department before moving his family to Yuba City, CA, in 1977, and joining the Yuba City Police Department.

Once retired from law enforcement, he still wanted to be involved in developing the next generation of police officers. So, he went to work at Yuba College, coordinating the Basic Police Academy until his retirement.

Neal is survived by his wife, Sue; sister, Peggy; three children, Stacy Brookman (Amy), Crystal Juricich (Greg), and Christopher Brookman (Gina); seven grandchildren, Colby, Kyle, Brittany, Lauren, Lindsey, Braeden, Kendall, and Emerson; and two great-grandchildren, Taylor and Bennett.

He is preceded in death by his father, Claude; and his mother, Eunice.

Viewing will be held at Ullrey Memorial Chapel on Thursday, August 14, 2025, from 4 PM to 7 PM.

Graveside services will be at Sutter Cemetery on Friday, August 15, 2025, at 10:30 AM.

I knew Neal for more than 40 years to his days with the police department and in my office. He was always great to talk to about life, politics and target shooting. He showed great respect for others and was truly dedicated to his family and making the community better. I will miss him greatly.

Neal was a good friend, fishing buddy and fellow car guy. He was a valued member of the Gold Country Street Rods, Slow Trollers fishing club and Sons-In-Retirement. We are fortunatate to have him in our lives and will certainly miss him. Pat & Kate Dilling
