Clay Edward Bombrys, 51, of Jones, departed this life a brave warrior, following a courageous battle with cancer, surrounded by family at Bronson Hospital the evening of Wednesday, December 17,2025.
Clay was born on January 23, 1974, in Marcellus, Michigan, the third child of David Edward Bombrys and Mary Frances (Freestone) Bombrys Pastorick. He graduated from Marcellus High School in 1992, attended technical school for two years, and later continued his education at Eaton Truck Driving School.
As a young adult, Clay worked alongside family in various businesses before beginning a career as a truck driver, working for several companies over the years. The open road was one of his favorite places to be, and he spent many happy hours driving his truck or riding his motorcycle. He also enjoyed camping, fishing, and making mead. Clay had a curious and inventive mind and loved learning about new technologies, often sharing his excitement with friends and loved ones—many of whom admitted they didn’t quite understand everything he was explaining.
Clay will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him. He is survived by his sisters, Dana (Chad) Benkert of Matamoras, Pennsylvania, and Amanda (Buddy) Maggert of Cassopolis; his brother, Carl Bombrys (Elisa Aitken) of Marcellus; and his longtime friend and chosen brother, Kirk Butrick (Mary Marriott) of Jones.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his niece, Kylie Paige Benkert; and his cousins, David Michael Steven and Pamela Jean (Bombrys) Thorn.
Arrangements for services will be announced at a later date.
