Clayton M. Adams

If the only measure of a human's life was time, it would seem short, but when measured in memorable moments and love, Clayton's was infinite.
On Friday, March 8th, surrounded and in the arms of his loving family, Clayton peacefully left this world for a better place. Clayton was an unexpected gift to Michelle Adams and her family on November 6th, 2010. He entered the world a tiny miracle, weighing just 2 lbs. 7 oz. From the beginning, Clayton encountered challenges that could overwhelm even the strongest of us, but he was no ordinary boy; He was a superhero.
Despite what doctors predicted, Clayton defied the odds repeatedly. When they said he couldn't swallow, he nursed. When they said he'd never hear, he smiled and laughed to his favorite tunes. When they said he wasn't capable of feeling love or joy, not only did he feel it, he gave it back ten-fold.
Clayton's laughter was large, silly, and sweet, spreading warmth and drawing laughter from all around him. He relished in the applause for every new accomplishment, no matter how small. Everyone who met him couldn't help but be drawn to his infectious joy or swoon over his big bright hazel eyes, thick locks and eyelashes.
Even on his toughest days, a simple Clayton "coo" was all you needed to believe again. Many of his doctors, nurses, teachers, family friends and caregivers became his fiercest fans and avid supporters over the years. Everyone was all aboard for the ride.
In his thirteen years, Clayton enjoyed many family adventures filled with happiness. From splashing in the ocean to rides at Disney World, dancing in his family's arms at three Lollapaloozas to cheering on his mom and aunt at gymnastics meets. Clayton embraced every moment with pure joy. Being in the water was his absolute favorite. On summer days, he loved kicking in the pool while swimming in one of grandma's floating contraptions. When seasons changed, he enjoyed relaxing in his hot tub. Even showering, his laughter could be heard throughout the house. He just couldn't get enough. If Clayton ever felt a bit gloomy, a simple walk in his stroller would turn his signature pout to a smile. Like any other young boy, he also loved LOUD music, noisy power tools and silly fart sounds. Whether cuddling with loved ones, rough-housing with grandpa, watching Moana for the 88th time or listening to stories read to him by caregivers and his great-grandma Trudy, Clayton's days were filled with love and cherished moments.
Despite all the challenges he faced, Clayton never lost his spirit. Even during his many long hospital stays and his final days surrounded by loved ones, he found a way to smile. Though Clayton's time with us was short, the impact of his life endures. He taught us that love and perseverance can overcome many of life's obstacles. If love could have saved him, Clayton would have lived forever.
Clayton is survived by his loving mother, Michelle Adams, his devoted grandparents Lisa and David Adams, his aunties, Brooke Adams (Michael Andrews) and Brittany (Dan) Teresi, cousins Evelyn and Avery Teresi, and great-grandmothers Gertrude Adams and Ann Lindberg. He was preceded in death by his uncle Justin Lindberg and great-grandfathers Gary Lindberg and Gerald Adams.
As we say "farewell for now," we tightly embrace the memories of his laughter and the warmth of his love. We love you Clay, forever and always.
