Clayton August Kilde

Clayton August Kilde, 65, of Blackduck, Minnesota died unexpectedly on Saturday, April 13, 2024 in Hominy, Oklahoma.
Memorial Services will be held on Wednesday, April 24, 2024 at 2:00 PM at the Evangelical Free Church in Blackduck, Minnesota with Jim Rockensock officiating. Visitation will be held for one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment will be in Lakeview Cemetery in Blackduck, MN.
Clayton was born on August 7, 1958, the son of August and Camilla Kilde. He attended Blackduck schools until entering the United States Marines Corps at the age of 17. Clayton served three years and was stationed in Okinawa, Japan. On February 21, 1981, Clayton was united in marriage to Julie Kay Custer of International Falls, Minnesota. They were blessed with a daughter, Melissa Jane. The couple lived in rural Blackduck for a short time before moving to Grand Rapids, Minnesota. Upon receiving his degree in Forest Management from Itasca Community College he moved back to Blackduck where he worked for several logging companies as a skidder operator before he went to work for Page and Hill Forest Products in Big Falls, Minnesota. Clayton was employed there until they closed in 2014. He then went to work for North Central Services in Bemidji, Minnesota where he traveled throughout the Midwest as a machine operator. When he made a trip to Washington State in 1987 he found his lifetime partner, Laura. Clayton brought her to Blackduck where they have made a home and family together for the past 37 years. He enjoyed many hobbies including hunting, fishing, logging and berry picking. Clayton loved animals and he loved music. He was a good singer and played a mean "air guitar". He was a loyal partner, devoted son, loving dad and grandpa, special brother and great friend, neighbor and countryman. Clayton was truly one of the special ones.
Clayton is survived by his loving partner, Laura Record of Blackduck, MN; daughter, Melissa Jane Savage and step-daughter Jennifer Wentworth, both of Blackduck; step son, Josh Record of Kelso, WA; mother, Camilla Kilde Scott of Blackduck; brother Kerry Kilde of Blackduck; sisters, Kathy (Tim) Jackson of International Falls, MN; Cheryl (John) Berg of Andover, MN and Debbie (Tom) Berg of Grand Rapids, MN; sister-in-law, Barb Carlson of Cass Lake, MN; five grandchildren, Jane, Claire, Tyler, Own and Terris; five great-grandchildren; and a large extended family and many friends.
Clayton was preceded in death by his father; brother, Mike Kilde; and special dad, Jack Moon. Clayton will be missed by his "furry family", Lucy, Mitsy, Minnie, George and Meow Meow.
