Clayton Michael Stephens

Clayton Michael Stephens of Man, WV Clayton Michael Stephens, 64, of Man, departed this life on Sunday, September 25, 2016, at CAMC Memorial Hospital at Charleston, after a short illness. He was born on August 21, 1952, in Welch, a son of the late Clayton Harvey and Wilma Estella Stephens. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Herbert "Peanut" Grimmette and David "Sugar Bear" Stephens. Michael was a 1971 graduate of Man High School. He worked in the coal mining industry for 18 years. Those left to cherish his memory are two sons, Michael Harvey (Alishia) Stephens and Anthony Brian (Julie) Stephens, both of Man; three grandchildren, Kylie and Hayden Stephens and Jules Burgess, all of Man; five brothers, Ronnie (Charlene) Stephens of Davin, James (Jane) Grimmette of Bruno, Tracy Grimmett of NC, Donald (Sandy) Grimmette of NC, and Larry (Carolyn) Grimmette of OH; two sisters, Edith Cox of Taplin and Brenda (Charlie) Williamson of Bruno; three special nephews, Oliver and Trey Hunt who were his "best buds" and Chuck Hill; his special nieces that he called, "my girls", Carolyn Boykins, Camie Hunt, Denean Hill, Courtney Johnson, Kinlee Johnson, and Tristan Brown; plus many other nieces and nephews; the mother of his children, Betty Stephens who was his close friend; and a host of many other relatives and friends. A memorial gathering will be held from 2-4 p.m. Saturday, October 1, 2016, at the Gilman Bottom Free Will Baptist Church at Gilman Bottom with Rev. Alfred "Butch" Cobb officiating. In honor of Mike's request, his remains have been cremated.
