Clemon F. "Speedy" Bridges

Clemon F. (Speedy) Bridges passed away November 20, 2025 in Childress, Texas.

Services are scheduled for Friday November 21, 2025 at Calvary Baptist Church at 2:00 PM with Mr. Terry Williams officiating.

Burial will immediately follow at Childress Cemetery under the direction of Johnson Funeral Home.

Clemon was born April 28, 1930 to Olen Bridges and Leona (Burns) Bridges in Childress, Texas.

Clemon worked since he was a young boy; he would pull his red wagon collecting scrap metal; the older he became his collection grew with scrap metaling. Clemon also known as (Speedy) was an avid collector of many things- often, anything and everything! He was the first person others would call if they needed a certain part-- he was known to have just about anything you would need and for a good price.

Clemon was more of a second dad to all of his siblings; especially to his youngest niece; Linda. He was a member of the Calvary Baptist Church for over 52 years. Clemon will be remembered for his ability to care and love others.

Clemon is survived by:

Sister- Wanda Clements of LeonardTown, Maryland

Sister- Janie Smith of Iowa Park

Sister- Marilyn Slape of Amarillo

Niece/ Adopted Sister- Linda VanAusdall of Childress

Along with numerous nieces and nephews.

Clemon was preceded in death by his Father, Olen Bridges; Mother, Leona Burns; and Brothers Arlis Bridges and Jimmy Bridges.

The family would like to extend their love and thankfulness to Childress Health Care Center for all their care given to Clemon.
