Cleo Maxine Berntson, 67 passed away on March 29, 2025, at her home in Fargo.
Cleo was born on January 24, 1958 to Lester and Phyllis Berntson of Kulm, ND. She was baptized and confirmed at Zion Lutheran Church in Kulm. In her youth, she enjoyed the farm life, which never changed as she got older. She surrounded herself with animals and was active in 4-H. She had a soft spot for horses her entire life. She graduated from Kulm High School in 1977 and continued her education at the Minnesota Business College in Shakopee, MN with an Associate of Applied Science Degree in Accounting and Tax Specialist in 2010.
She had recently moved into Touchmark Senior Living in Fargo after living at her home outside of Glyndon, MN since 2012. Prior to this time, she resided in Savage, MN.
Cleo was a member of Atonement Lutheran Church in Fargo. She volunteered her time at UC Hope in Glyndon where she also served as a director. She was an active member of the Star of the North Doll Club for 24 years and also a member of the Minnesota Jamboree Council. Traveling and meeting people was her love. Her last trip was to London this past summer and had scheduled a trip to Canada for this upcoming summer. She was interested in all the activities of her nieces and nephew.
Cleo is survived by her mother, Phyllis; brothers, Lowell (Carol) and Neal (Marla); her daughter, Kendra Peterson; and six nieces, one nephew, and one great-nephew.
Cleo was preceded in death by her father, Lester; and aunt, Cathryn Huntsman.
Family and Friends Gathering at 4:00 pm, Memorial Service at 5:00 pm on April 12 at Atonement Lutheran Church in Fargo ND. Arrangements by Hanson-Runsvold Funeral Home.
