In Loving Memory of Our Beloved Mother
It is with heavy hearts and immeasurable sorrow, we announce the passing of our beloved mother, Cleo Calogeropoulos-Arezio.
Our mother was truly one of a kind - graceful, witty, strong, and endlessly loving. Born to Panagiotis Calogeropoulos and Sheffenework Gete in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, she lived her life with passion, purpose, and a sense of elegance that was uniquely her own.
Cleo was a woman of many talents and great depth. She loved to cook and bake, and her kitchen was always filled with warmth, laughter, and the delicious aroma of something wonderful in the oven. She took joy in entertaining, welcoming friends and family into her home with open arms, a beautiful table, and always a cup of tea nearby. Her garden was her sanctuary - a reflection of her patience, care, and appreciation for beauty.
Our mother was also a citizen of the world. She traveled extensively, spoke seven languages, and carried herself with the poise of a true diplomat. She believed deeply in excellence -being your best, having integrity and presenting yourself with confidence and grace.
Her wonderful sense of humor brought laughter to many, marked by honesty and a directness that always came from love. She had a playful knack for reverse psychology, and somehow, she always got her way - or at least made you believe it was your idea!
Cleo truly adored her husband, Natale, and together they built a beautiful life full of love, family, and memories that we will cherish forever. She was devoted to her children, grandchildren, great-grandchild, and family, and her love for us was the constant light and steady center of her world. Her love for her sister was immeasurable; they spoke every single day, sharing laughter, stories, and the comfort only sisters can give. She shared a deep bond with her brother Dimitri, united by their passion for opera and music. With her dearest cousin Clearchos, she shared a love of gardening and cooking. Our mother enjoyed her daily banter and solving the world's problems with her son-in-law, Lord John, which she affectionately loved and considered her third son. She also held a very special bond with her niece and goddaughter, Alexandra (Beba), and deeply cherished all her relationships with her nieces and nephews.
Fashionable and elegant, especially in her younger years, Cleo had an eye for style and sophistication. She had a lifelong affection for England and all things British - her tea, her biscuits, the royal family, and her favorite British sitcoms. She carried herself with that same sense of dignity and grace - always proper, yet warm and deeply human.
Our mother was a woman of extraordinary character - intelligent, funny, worldly, loving, and unforgettable. She taught us the value of hard work, kindness, and being true to yourself. Though our hearts ache in her absence, her spirit lives on in each of us - in the way we carry ourselves, in our laughter, in our family traditions, and in the love we share.
Thank you, Mom, for everything you were and everything you gave.
We will love you forever.
Cleo is survived by her beloved children, Franca, Gabriele, and Maurizio; her cherished siblings, Kaliopi and Dimitri; her adored grandchildren, Daniel, Summers, Alessandro, Ariella, River, Rainn, Valeria, and Alejandro; and her precious great-granddaughter, Alice Cleopatra. She will be forever loved and remembered by all who knew her.
