Cleo McCarrell

Cleo Clifford McCarrell, age 93, of Antlers, Oklahoma, previously of Broken Bow, Oklahoma, died Friday, February 13, 2026, at the Pushmataha Hospital in Antlers, Oklahoma. He was born on Friday, October 14, 1932, to Simon Jasper and Ina Ethel Harmon McCarrell in Antlers, Oklahoma.

Cleo was a man of steady faith, quiet strength, and deep devotion to both his country and his family. He proudly served in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict and was honorably discharged, carrying with him a lifelong sense of duty and patriotism.

He dedicated 35 years of hard work to Weyerhaeuser, earning respect through his reliability and strong work ethic. Cleo believed in providing, in showing up, and in doing a job right.

On weekends, you could often find him doing what he loved most playing music with friends. Music was woven into his spirit, and George Jones was his hero. He treasured the hat George once signed for him, a keepsake that brought him pride and a good story to tell.

Cleo also loved planting a garden each year, tending it with patience and care, just as he tended the people in his life. A man of faith, service, and simple joys, Cleo leaves behind a legacy of loyalty, music, hard work, and love that will not be forgotten.

Cleo is preceded in death by his parents; son, Randy McCarrell; great grandson, Waylon McCarrell; five brothers, Floyd Jenkins, Hoyt McCarrell, Onis McCarrell, Troy and C.B. McCarrell and three sisters, Nona Jenkins, Dessie McCarrell and Lorene Lawless.

Cleo is survived by his loving wife Mary Jo McCarrell of Antlers, Oklahoma; his son, Mark McCarrell of Antlers, Oklahoma; three Daughters, Sandra McCarrell of Antlers, Oklahoma, Krista McCarrell of Holly Creek, Oklahoma and Tammy Reid of Wright City, Oklahoma; five grandchildren, Justin McCarrell and wife Conchita of Idabel, Shaina Hampton and husband Michael of Idabel, Brandan McCarrell and wife Nicole of Golden, Miranda McCarrell of Holly Creek, and Sara McCarrell of Antlers; six great grandchildren, Violet McCarrell, Corbin McCarrell, Slade Coleman, Cayman Hampton, Natalie McCarrell, and Madelyn McCarrell; several nieces and nephews and a host of other relatives and friends.

Graveside services will be held on Saturday, February 21, 2026, at 10:00 A.M. at the Watson Cemetery in Oak Hill, Oklahoma. No visitation is planned. Services are entrusted to Bowser Family Funeral Home in Broken Bow, Oklahoma.
