Cleofe Songco Laxa, age 76, of
Virginia Beach, Virginia, entered into eternal rest on Saturday, July 19, 2025, surrounded by the love and prayers of her family.
Born on June 15, 1949, in Guagua, Pampanga, Philippines, Cleofe was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother whose life was a beautiful reflection of faith, love, and selflessness. A woman of deep devotion to God and her family, she lived her life with grace, humility, and unwavering trust in the Lord.
She was the cherished wife of Horacio Laxa, with whom she shared a blessed life built on love, prayer, and perseverance. She was the loving and devoted mother of Richard (Christine) Laxa and Mary (Man) Bly, and Dennis (Tiffany) Laxa.
Cleofe was a proud and nurturing grandmother to Vanessa (Patrick) Laxa-Gutierrez, Kiara Laxa, Ahreanna Laxa, Xavier Laxa, Kaila (Mark) Ramirez née Laxa, Kobe (Hannah) Laxa, Jonah Bly, Josiah Bly, Nadia Laxa, and Nixon Laxa. Her heart overflowed with love for her great-grandchildren: Malaya, Devonte Jr., Uta, and Reia, who brought her joy beyond measure.
She was preceded in death by her beloved son Dennis Laxa, who she now joins in eternal peace as well as her parents, Pablo and Arsenia Songco, whose faith and love formed the roots of her strong foundation.
Cleofe is also lovingly remembered by her siblings: Gloria, Alice, and Paquito, who survive her; and Chito, Bodoy, and Dan, who have preceded her in death. Their bond, whether in this life or the next, remains a testament to the enduring strength of family.
Cleofe had a deep love for cooking-her kitchen was the heart of her home. She lovingly fed anyone and everyone who walked through her door, making sure no one ever left hungry. Her meals were more than food; they were expressions of her love. Her family will forever remember the comforting aromas of her dishes, the warmth of her hospitality, and the truth that no one could cook like her.
She also found peace and joy in gardening, tending to her plants with the same gentle care she gave her loved ones. Whether growing vegetables or nurturing blooming flowers, her green thumb brought life and beauty to every space she touched.
Despite the miles between them, Cleofe never forgot her roots. With loving dedication, she sent balikbayan boxes as often as she could to her family in the Philippines-filled with gifts, necessities, and pieces of her heart. Her generosity reached across oceans, keeping her family close in the most meaningful ways.
Her life was marked by compassion, humility, and deep spiritual devotion. A faithful Catholic, she found strength in prayer and joy in service. Her rosary was never far from her hands, and her prayers lifted up generations. Cleofe's strength, presence, and unwavering love were the foundation of her family and an inspiration to all who knew her.
Her family finds comfort in knowing she is now resting in the arms of our Heavenly Father, reunited with her beloved son and parents, and surrounded by eternal light and love.
