Fred Fields, 79, passed away peacefully at home on June 29, 2025, in Virginia Beach, VA. A private service will be held at Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home, Kempsville Chapel, with cremation to follow per his wishes. Condolences may be shared at www.hollomon-brown.com.
Born in Galesburg, Illinois, Fred was the son of George and Edna (Johnson) Fields. He graduated from Galesburg Senior High School and attended Carl Sandburg College. A proud Marine Corps Veteran, he served in Vietnam from 1966 to 1968.
Fred married Linda Seibert in 1966. He was a longtime member of St. Peter's Catholic Church in Waldorf, MD, and a member of the Knights of Columbus.
He began his career farming with his brother near Rio, Illinois, and worked for the Chicago, Burlington & Quincy Railroad. He later founded Fred Fields Building Contractor in Galesburg and went on to serve with the U.S. Capitol Police after completing training at the Federal Law Enforcement Training Center in Georgia. Fred later established Carrington Homes, a successful construction company in Southern Maryland.
A devoted father of four, Fred took great pride in supporting his children's academic and athletic pursuits.
He is survived by his wife Linda, sons Mark (Jodi) Fields of La Plata, MD, and Dale (Nazila) Fields of Columbia, MD; daughters Amy Fields (Brian) Bharwani of Raleigh, NC, and Keri (Brian) Fields of Virginia Beach, VA; grandchildren Jacob, Nicholas, Grace, Dean, Lucy, Samantha, Brooks, and Ayla; sisters Louise Green and Candy (Loren) Swihart; brother Ron (Maureen) Fields. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Fred was preceded in death by his parents George M. Fields, Edna (Johnson) Fields; brothers Michael Fields and W. Dale Fields, Darrel Fields, brother-in-law William Green and sisters-in-law Karen Fields and Margaret (Perry) Fields.

Awe. I'm so sorry for the family's loss.

We will miss "Mr. Fred" saying good morning and calling us "girls" as we walk dogs.

I'm sure many in the neighborhood will miss his friendly face.
