Cletus C Dozler

Cletus C. Dozler was born July 18, 1938, in Sioux City, Woodbury County, Iowa, and died January 22, 2024, in his home in El Dorado Springs, Cedar County, Missouri.
Cletus grew up on a farm near Gray, Audubon County, Iowa, and graduated from Gray High School in 1956. He volunteered for and was inducted into the United States Army on February 19, 1957. He attended basic training in Ft. Leonard Wood, Missouri, and was stationed in Nancy, France, with the Fifth Army until he was honorably discharged on February 21, 1959.
He moved to El Dorado Springs upon his discharge from the Army because his parents had relocated to a farm east of El Dorado Springs. Cletus began a career with KAMO Electric Cooperative, now KAMO Power, as a lineman in 1961.
He married Janice L. Heitz, the daughter of Ted and Winnie Mae (Heironymous) Heitz, on November 4, 1961, in El Dorado Springs, Missouri. Unto this union were born two sons, Michael and Douglas.
The family returned to El Dorado Springs in 1969 when Cletus transferred to KAMO's El Dorado Springs office as a dispatcher. He purchased a small farm south of town where he enjoyed raising cattle and hogs until a farm accident on June 21, 1976, permanently disabled him. He continued his farming passion following the accident, raising cattle and watching calves play. He never shied from a strong work ethic before or after his accident.
He served as president of the El Dorado Springs Booster Club, president of the El Dorado Springs Special Road District, and as member and president of On My Own, Incorporated.
Cletus' love of family never wavered as he was indeed a loving son, brother, and father. His fondest times were with family gathered around the kitchen table enjoying a meal or playing cards and the fellowship brought with it.
Preceding him in death were his parents, Adolf Anton and Edna Marie (Reickmann) Dozler; his brother, Guido Dozler; and son, Douglas Dozler.
He is survived by his sister, Kathleen (Larry) Addison, Monroe City; son, Michael, of El Dorado Springs; grandsons, Brennan (Jordan) Dozler, El Dorado Springs, and Skyler Dozler, of Steelville; granddaughter, Kamaran (Mack) Phillips, Leeton; five great-granddaughters; two great-grandsons; his nieces and nephews; and ex-wife, Janice Preston, of El Dorado Springs, with whom he remained amicable.
