Cleveland Greene, Jr. was born on January 6, 1944 in Dooling, Ga. to the late Annie Mae Walker and Cleveland Greene, Sr. He was the second son of four children. He passed peacefully on August 27, 2025. He was endearingly called "Corey" or "Junior" by those who knew him best. Cleveland wore many titles with grace: devoted husband, loving father, doting grandfather, steadfast friend, and loyal son. He married his sweetheart Mary L. Guy, and together they shared fifty-two years of marriage.

Cleveland joined Bethlehem Baptist Church in Dooly County at an early age. He later attended The Cornerstone Church of the Living Faith with his family. His early foundation of faith and service led him into the military.

A proud veteran, Cleveland served in the Army. His battlefield experiences were met with quiet humility and a steadfast sense of duty. Cleveland was awarded the National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Metal with Bronze Stars, Vietnam Campaign Metal with Device, Overseas Service Bar, and Rifle Expert M-14. He was employed 25 years, as a Dock Jockey at Overnite Transportation until he retired in 2006.

Cleveland's greatest joy was his family. He was a devoted father to Tangela KaMeko, Cherilyn, Corey, and Christopher. He reveled in the role of grandfather to Jasmin, Immanuel, Olivia, Hailey, Imani, and Bryson, delighting in every moment spent with them, whether sharing stories from his younger days, watching TV, or shopping for whatever the kids wanted. No matter what life brought his way his face would brighten up with joy and pride at the sight of his kiddos.

A man of simple pleasures, Cleveland found joy in cooking, a good football game, long drives and music legends like Mahalia Jackson, The Williams Brothers, Shirley Caesar, and The Gap Band. Those tunes accompanied many moments of quiet reflection, celebration, and togetherness.

Cleveland's generosity knew no bounds. He worked tirelessly to provide for his children and family. While we will miss this quiet remarkable man, we also celebrate a life filled with strength, warmth, and unending devotion. He will be deeply missed and forever cherished. Cleveland's legacy lives on in the lives he touched, in the memories we hold, and in the love that continues to bind his family together.

Cleveland is survived by his loving and dedicated wife, Mary L. Greene of Atlanta; his daughter, Tangela Greene of Atlanta; his daughter, Cherilyn L. Harris and her husband Edward T. Harris of Jonesboro, Ga. and His son, Corey Guy Greene and his wife, Eunice of Atlanta, and his son Christopher Greene and his wife, Precious Greene of Atlanta; and his six grandchildren: Jasmin, Immanuel, Olivia, Hailey, Imani and Bryson; his elder brother, Earl Brinson of New York and younger brother, Melon Walker of McDonough and his children, his younger sisters, Angela Turner and her Husband David Turner of Byromville, Ga. and their children, Mary Oliver and Sylvia Sutton, cousin Annie J.
