Cleveland A “Dick” Natola age 97, passed away peacefully on April 3, 2025 at the NewBridge on the Charles in Dedham. He was preceded in death by his wife of 71 years, Elizabeth A (Clancy) Natola before she passed in 2021. Born in Boston, he was the son of the late Cleveland Natola, and Evelyn Barthelemy. He grew up in Lowell, attended Lowell high school, and then moved to Roxbury, where he met the love of his life. He went on to enlist in the US Navy and was a proud veteran. Dick held many different job titles - he was self-employed and owned many small businesses, one that he worked at for 30 years West Broadway Shoe Repair in South Boston. He was a past Grand Knight for the Knights of Columbus in Boston. Dick loved sports, he played football, basketball and softball and was the Sponser of the Blue Devils teams for many years. He enjoyed watching the New England Patriots, the Boston Celtics and the Boston Red Sox with his wife, Elizabeth. In later years they enjoyed their nightly crossword puzzles after dinner. He was the best card player, you could never beat him, especially in Gin and Cribbage! Above all, he loved spending time with his family and attending his grandchildren’s sporting events,
Dick is survived by his children, Gail Ryan, and her husband, Michael and Joan Cocchi, and her husband Jack and was preceded in death by his daughter Anne E. Natola. He was “Pa” to 5 grandchildren, Christine Antonucci, Morgan Ryan, Jeffrey, Justin, and Josh Cocchi, was the great-grandfather to Gabriella and Max Antonucci, Matthew and Noah Ryan and Justin Hines. He was the brother to Donald Dostie, Beverly Brienzi, and Linda Natola O’Shea, and was predeceased by his siblings Joseph Mulligan, Mildred Daggett, Charles Barthelemy, Evelyn Storts, Virginia Bechtol, Doris Reffitt, Joseph Dostie, Shirley Pelton and Patricia Davis. He was also a beloved uncle to several nieces and nephews, and leaves behind his pal, his Yellow Lab, Scout, who he called his “Beautiful Baby Boy”
Visitation will be held at the Farley Funeral Home 358 Park St., (Route 27) Stoughton on Tuesday, April 8 from 4-7 PM. Funeral will be held the next day Wednesday, April 9 at the funeral home, at 9:30 AM followed by a Funeral Mass at Immaculate Conception Church in Stoughton at 10:30 AM. Burial will be held at the Blue Hill Cemetery in Braintree. In lieu of flowers, donations in Dick’s memory may be made to MSPCA-Angell at https://www.mspca.org
