Clifford James Dumarce Jr
It is with heartfelt sorrow that we announce the passing of Clifford James Dumarce Jr, age 50, who departed this life on June 15, 2025.
Clifford was born in Watertown, South Dakota on December 3, 1974 to Clifford J. DuMarce Sr. and Maxine Redday. He grew up in Sisseton, South Dakota and attended Tiospa Zina Tribal School, where he enjoyed sports, served as Student Council President, and was captain of the football team. He also competed in cross country and was a member of the track team. Clifford graduated on May 26, 1994.
He was a talented grass dancer, proud of his cultural traditions and heritage. After high school, he enlisted in the United States Marine Corps, where he served with honor in Afghanistan, Kosovo, and Iraq. Following his military service, he moved to North Carolina, continuing his life with strength and dedication.
Clifford was a beloved husband, father, son, brother, and uncle, known for his bright smile and sense of humor-always joking around with everyone and bringing laughter wherever he went. He was incredibly friendly and made new friends everywhere he went. His presence touched the lives of many, and his memory will be cherished always.
He is survived by his wife, Cathleen Dumarce, and his children: Marshall DuMarce, Courtney DuMarce, and Caitlyn DuMarce; his mother Maxine (Darrell) Renville; sisters: Bobbi Dumarce, Pejihota (Isaac) Lucero, Mary Stahl, Darcy Rowe, Neda Renville (Algin Blackthunder), Missy Renville (Brendan LaBatte), and Shelby (Jarrell) Adams; and brothers: Dancer "Butch" Dumarce, Derrick (Shelly) Redday, Terry Redday, Simeon (Elizabeth) DuMarce, and Kip Renville.
He was preceded in death by his son, Wambdi DuMarce; his father, Clifford DuMarce Sr.; siblings Bella (DuMarce) Petersen and Kodah DuMarce; paternal grandparents Melvin DuMarce and Alma (Wanna) Renville; and maternal grandparents Howard Redday Sr. and Josephine (Big Talk) Redday.
Wake services will be held on Friday, June 27, 2025 at 7:00 p.m. at Tiospa Zina Tribal School. with candlelight Rollcall. Officiating will be Nippy Owen and Morgan Redday. Drum Group, Londel Seaboy.
Funeral services will follow on Saturday, June 28, 2025 at 2:00 p.m. at Tiospa Zina Tribal School, with a meal served at 1:00 p.m. in the school cafeteria.
Pallbearers: Derrick Redday, Kip Renville, Simeon DuMarce, Duron LaCroix, David Bird, Marshall DuMarce, Jared Seaboy, and Brock DuMarce.
Honorary Pallbearers: Kit Fox, M.J. Dayton, Jon Cashman, Alfred Seaboy, Robert "Robbie" Gill, all of Cliffs Marine Buddies.
Clifford will be remembered for his strength, spirit, and the love he shared with everyone around him.
