Clifford Smith Linsey, a cherished patriarch, devoted husband, and decorated veteran, passed away peacefully on October 19, 2025, in Rockwall, Texas, at the age of 98. Born on August 2, 1927, in San Antonio, Texas, Clifford's life was marked by his unwavering dedication to his country, his family, and his faith.
Clifford's journey began as the beloved son of James and Edna Linsey, growing up alongside his siblings Ellis Linsey, Shirley Masterson, and his late brothers James and Darwin Linsey. His formative years in Texas laid the foundation for the remarkable man he would become. Clifford's life was a testament to love and commitment, beautifully exemplified by his 62-year marriage to his soulmate, Lina Linsey. Together, they raised two daughters, Karrie Ann Arze, with her husband Steve, and Ann-Marie Samford, with her husband Kyle, who brought joy and pride to Clifford's life.
A family man at heart, Clifford reveled in the laughter and milestones of his grandchildren, Alex Arze and wife Whitney, Joseph Arze and wife Emily, Chelsea Laughrun and husband Brennan Seal, Kelsey Arze, Joshua Arze, Caleb Arze, Austin Samford, and Aevalyn Arze. The anticipation of welcoming his first great-grandchild filled his final days with warmth and excitement.
Clifford's legacy as a selfless, thoughtful, and loving individual extended beyond his family. His military career was a profound expression of his patriotism, with Clifford retiring as a Chief Master Sergeant from the United States Air Force after bravely serving his nation during World War II & Korea. His service was characterized by the same loyalty and devotion he showed at home, earning him numerous accolades and the respect of his peers. Although he received many awards and honors throughout his career, Clifford remained the humblest of men, always placing the highest value on the well-being and happiness of his family.
A man of deep Christian faith, Clifford lived his beliefs through his actions, touching the lives of many with his caring and protective nature. A word that describes him well is "reverent". He had deep convictions that included prayer over his country and honor to God and those who serve. His involvement with the Masonic Lodge and the Band of Brothers reflected his commitment to fellowship and community service.
Clifford's interests painted the picture of a man who cherished the simple pleasures in life. He was a sentimental soul who found joy in journaling, leaving behind a treasure trove of written memories for his family. His love for his grandchildren knew no bounds, and he was often found sharing stories and imparting wisdom to the younger generations. He will be deeply missed by his family, though we all know that he rests with Jesus and that we will one day be reunited.
The family is asking that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the
Shriners Children's Hospital in Clifford's name.
