Cliff was active in numerous organizations including Special Olympics for over 14 years where he won many medals in Track & Field events. An active Boy Scout in Troop 70, he made Eagle Scout in 1986. He also participated in Big Brothers and Big Sisters. Cliff's work accolades include stints at his favorite eating establishments of Taco Bell and McDonald's, but where he earned his legacy was working Sun Harvest Grocery now known as Sprouts in 1995 and worked there for 29 years until he retired in September 2024. He played sports, namely baseball and soccer, but his main passion was bowling, which he played for over 30 years and was a consistent high scorer. His hobbies included listening to music, collecting CDs, watching music awards shows, dancing, and following celebrity birthdays and entertainment news in the newspaper and magazines. His absolute favorite pastime was talking on the phone to friends and family. He was an active member in Trinity Baptist Church for over 40 years and involved in their special needs organizations – Best Friends and Sunday School. He took various church trips, including cruises to Mexico and Central America besides other trips around the United States. He was also active with The University Methodist Church Special Needs Organization – Helping Hands which he attended on a weekly basis. His most recent activities included visiting Morgan's Wonderland and Eva's Heroes events where he attended his last FIESTA dance party in April. He enjoyed attending football games and followed his favorite sports teams, especially his alma mater of Robert E. Lee HS, The San Antonio Spurs, Dallas Cowboys and Texas Longhorns (where he attended the Orange and White Game with football player Alumni, Earl Hudson, 63'). He was closely involved in his family's activities and took vacations throughout the USA, Canada, Alaska, Mexico, Nicaragua and Spain. Beloved by his neighbors, Cliff was known for his community spirit in the Colonial Hills Neighborhood Association. He had a childhood pet, Leo (dog-deceased) which he loved dearly and was also very close to his cousin Leandra's dogs (Jojo-deceased), Tux and Jax where he cheered them on as they participated and won various dog contests. Whether it was through a simple conversation or a thoughtful gesture, Cliff had a gift for lifting the hearts of those around him. He was a hugger by nature and often expressed sweet " I love you's" to those around him. He took joy in life's simple pleasures - good food, namely cheeseburgers, ice-cold Coca-Cola's and Dr Pepper's, laughter with family, music, dancing and the company of those he held dear. Cliff will be deeply missed by his family, along with many relatives, friends, and neighbors who were touched by his life. Though he may no longer walk beside us, his memory and the love he gave so freely will live on in our hearts forever. We would like to express our gratitude to the staff at The Heights on Medical Drive with heartfelt thanks to Amanda who went out of her way to assist Cliff in his time of need.
