Clifford Ray "Two Dogs" Wece, 88, of Marion, went home to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, at 7:35 p.m., Friday, May 9, 2025, at Deaconess Hospital in Marion, surrounded by his family.
Clifford was born on February 3, 1937, in Grubbs, Arkansas to Ivy and Dillie (Bransum) Wece. He was united in marriage to the love of his life, Janet Proffer on February 2, 1973, at their home. Together they shared 52 years of marriage.
Clifford was a graduate of Thompsonville High School. Upon graduating, Clifford enlisted into the United States Air Force and was honorably discharged after being stationed in Japan for three years. Clifford later went on to become a coal miner and worked for Old Ben #21 and later Freeman #4. After retiring, Clifford worked for several years at Kips Tires in Johnston City.
Clifford was a family man, a devoted husband, loving dad and grandpa. He enjoyed spending his days on the swing with his wife and watching his grandchildren play ball. He also enjoyed fishing and gardening.
Clifford loved the Lord and was a longtime member of Living Stone Church in Creal Springs.
Clifford is survived by his wife, Janet Wece of Marion; three children, Keith (Cindy) Grider of Marion, Jason (Amie) Wece of Marion, and Renee (Danny) Hundley of Marion; grandchildren, Stevie Rae Gubrud of TN, Jenny Arnone of West Frankfort, Matt Jenkins of Marion, Clint (Lindsey) Grider of Eldorado, Coty Wece of Stonefort, Nate Wece of Marion, Dax Hundley of Marion; great-grandchildren, Henley, Carsen, Kase, and Carter; one brother, Albert "Boke" (Lillie) Wece of TN; special dog, Buster.
He is preceded in death by his parents; son, Stephen Ray Wece; brothers, John, Dave, Roy Wece and infant, Roger Dale Wece; sisters, Lucille, Adelene, and Wanda.
Funeral service will be 2:00 P.M., Thursday, May 15, 2025, at Pyle Funeral Home in Johnston City with Pastor Chris Hottenson officiating. Interment will follow at County Line Cemetery in Thompsonville.
Visitation will be 12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m., Thursday, at the funeral home.
Pyle Funeral Home in Johnston City is entrusted with the arrangements.
