Jason Devine Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Pyle Funeral Home - Johnston City on Mar. 11, 2026.
Jason Mitchel Devine, 54, passed away March 6, 2026, at his home in Farmington, MO. Jason was born November 30, 1971, to William Lee and Jeannette (Dodd) Devine and lived in Johnston City, IL until he was 45. He later lived in St. Louis, MO, Nashville, TN, Leavenworth, KS and finally settled in Farmington, MO to be near his son, Christian, and his family.

Jason graduated from Johnston City High School in 1990. Following high school he served in the U.S. Army, being stationed in Missouri, Germany, and Alabama. Jason was a man of experience, he was a Chemical, Biological, Radiological, Nuclear Specialist (MOS 74D) as a corporal. He has also worked in carpentry and mechanics, as well as mining.

Jason was of the Christian faith and faithfully watched the sermons of his favorite pastor in Tennessee every week. Jason also stayed up to date on national politics and loved his country. Family was the most important part of his life. He especially enjoyed living near Christian's family and spending quality time with his grandchildren. Jason loved everything about the outdoors: fishing (he was an expert, caught fish everywhere he went), walking, biking, and he especially loved collecting rocks and feeding his neighborhood squirrels and birds.

Jason is survived by his sons, Christian (Victoria) Devine of Farmington, MO, and Dominic Gregory of Anna, IL, his daughter, Raea Dawn, three grandchildren, Adaline Rangel, Arielle Devine, and Laiken Devine, sister Kim (Keith) Ferrari of Franklin, TN, sister-in-law Michelle Devine of Johnston City, IL, nephews Derek Devine of Leslie, MO, Domenic (Makayla) Ferrari of Tampa, FL and nieces Jaimi (Jonathan) Franklin of Jamestown, KY, Christianna Ferrari of Los Angeles, CA and Cherestina Ferrari of Nashville, TN, and many cousins and friends.

Jason was preceded in death by his parents, his brother William David Devine, and niece Jenee Amelia Devine.

Funeral service will be at 1:00 p.m., Sunday, March 22, 2026, at Pyle Funeral Home in Johnston City with Pastor Todd Hawk officiating. Inurnment will follow at White Ash Cemetery.
