Clifton Shove Obituary

Clifton "Cliff" Edd Shove, 67

Clifton Edd Shove (Cliff) aged 67 was born February 1, 1958, in Coeur d'Alene, Idaho to Carlena R. and Donald A. Shove Sr., passing away May 10, 2025, in Wallace, Idaho due to an ATV accident.

Cliff attended grade school in Hayden Lake then moving to Garwood he attended Lakeland High School in Rathdrum, graduating in 1976. Out of high school he worked with his father at the Atlas Tie Sawmill then enlisted in the U.S. Army, stationed at Fort Sill in Oklahoma, then was sent to Germany, while in service there he became a language interpreter. He met and married his first wife Petra there; they had three children, David, Annie and Suzannah. Cliff served his country for 24 years and retired as a Sergeant First Class. He had his daughter Miranda with his second wife.

At an early age he was very good at computers, building and programming them, always tinkering. He had a welding business. He enjoyed making ornamental pieces out of horseshoes including a table for his mother and a cross for his cousin Cassie. Cliff was so generous and giving.

Cliff worked with the Wallace Police Department for over 4 years, and his love of service to others brought him to become a member of the Elks Lodge # 1254 and was elected as Exalted Ruler for two terms.

Even though he battled and survived two bouts of cancer Cliff never lost his caring, giving personality and his faith in God.

He is preceded in death by his baby daughter, Suzannah, his father Donald A. Shove and brother Duane, nephew D.J. (Duane Jr.).

He is survived by his children: David M., Annie, Miranda and his grandchildren: Noah, Aurora and Honor. His mom Carlena, siblings Ken (Michelle), Donnie, Larry (Ruth), David (Chrissy), Lori (Johnny) and close family friend Rex Clark. Special cousin Alyse and numerous other cousins and several nieces and nephews.

A Memorial service will be held this Sunday, May 18th at 2:00 P.M. at the English Funeral Chapel, 1133 N. 4th Street in CDA, ID. Following the memorial guests are invited to an honorable reception at the Elks Lodge at 1170 W. Prairie Ave.

Burial will take place Monday May 19th at 2:00 P.M. with full military honors at Pinegrove Cemetery in Rathdrum.

Gods speed Cliff, it was always fun with our Army vs Marines banter. You knew of the respect and the high regard I have for you.
I’m going to miss walking into the Elks and hearing “damn, the Marines are here.” From you.

May God welcome you into his arms before the devil even knows you passed!

“Semper Fi!”

I know that would make you smile!
