CLINT MURLEY
Henderson, TN: Justin Clint Murley age 47, passed away June 3, 2024, at his home.
He was born March 14, 1977, in Jackson, TN, the son of the Rickey and Celia Talley Murley and grew up in the Montezuma Community. He graduated from Chester County High School in 1995 and attended Freed-Hardeman and was on the men’s basketball team and received a Bachelor’s degree in physical Education in December 2000.
He married Amber Parrish on June 28, 2008. They made their home on Hwy 100 near Jacks Creek.
He started working as a case officer for the Madison County Department of Community Corrections, serving Madison, Chester, and Henderson Counties. In his work he helped many people get back on the right path, he continued to work throughout his illness.
He played baseball, basketball, and football while at Chester County High School. He was all district in all three sports and received a basketball scholarship to Freed-Hardeman University. He was the recipient of the Chester County Independent Athletic Excellence Award in 1995. He was the third Murley to receive the Award.
He refereed in TSSAA football and was selected to referee the 2017 State Football Championship. He started refereeing TSSAA Basketball in 2010 and was selected to do the State Basketball Championship in 2023 but was unable to attend due to his illness.
Rickey and Craig, Clay and Clint were very involved in Dixie Youth umpiring while the three boys were in high school.
He was a Charter member of Grace Baptist Church.
Clint is survived by his wife, Amber Lynne Parrish Murley; a son, Riley Thomas Murley age fourteen and a daughter, Bailey Rose Murley age eight; his parents, Richard Allen “Rickey” and Celia Frances Talley Murley; two brothers, Craig Murley and wife Renee of Chattanooga and Clay Murley and wife Shondra of Henderson and nieces and nephews, Corey Johnson (Taylor), Will Murley, Kate Murley and Ella Murley and a great nephew, Walker Johnson and his step grandmother, Shirley Talley.
Funeral services will be 2:00 PM Thursday, June 6th at Shackelford Funeral Directors – Crook Avenue Chapel with Bro. Eric Martin, Terry Bell and Craig Casey officiating. Burial will follow at Milledgeville Cemetery. Fellow football and basketball referees will serve as pallbearers.
The family will receive friends at Crook Avenue 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM on Wednesday and Thursday until funeral time.
