Clinton was born on May 6, 1951 to Glynn and Mary Eleanor Schoonover in Pontiac, MI. He is survived by his sisters Coralynn Benson and Lenore (James) Unger, children Darryl (Karen) Schoonover and Amy (Tim) Maze, and grandchildren Sterling, Marilla, Cecily, and Sullivan Schoonover and Trevor and Mackenzie Maze.
Clinton grew up in Pontiac, MI, graduating from Pontiac North High School and attending First Baptist Church of Pontiac. He went on to receive a degree in Electrical Engineering from Lawrence Technological University, eventually running his own business, CDS Electronic Design, for 30 years.
In 1983, Clinton met and married Sally (Sonnenberg) who he met in the singles class at Troy Baptist Church. Clinton and Sally lived in Troy for over 20 years, where they raised their children, Darryl and Amy, and welcomed all six of their grandchildren.
Clinton always enjoyed being around people, whether at family gatherings or staying late after church to chat with friends. He loved tinkering with all things electronic, collecting Lionel trains, playing Monopoly, and watching freighters pass by on Lake Huron. He enjoyed many years of taking his family on summer vacations to Maranatha Bible and Missionary Conference and even made a few special trips to attend the Indianapolis 500 (a favorite Memorial Day weekend tradition).
Clinton always had a heart for showing God's love to others: teaching children's Sunday school classes, ministering to neighbors and employees, and visiting home-bound church members. Since his wife Sally died five years ago, Clinton has poured his energy into encouraging his neighbors in his senior living apartments. He has led weekly Bible studies and hymn sings for his fellow residents as his health has allowed. Over the past year or so, he has had an almost singular focus on heaven. He was ready to meet his Savior, Jesus Christ.
