Clinton P. Tope, 96, of Bowerston, died Monday January 29, 2024 at Community Hospice in New Philadelphia. Born January 21, 1928 in Weirton, West Virginia he was a son of the late Elmer and Grace (Salterelli) Tope. Clinton was a retired carpenter, and formerly owned the Grocery Store in Sherrodsville and the Rootbeer Stand in Carrollton. He enjoyed gardening, especially growing blueberries, and woodworking.
He was preceded in death by his wife, the former Anna Mae Eberhardt, on September 6, 2019. He is survived by 6 children Debbie (Vic) Miller of Leavittsville, Randy (Linda) Tope of Dover, Cliff (Chris) Tope of New Philadelphia, Nancy (Rick) Hicks of Dover, Dolly (Randy) Easterday of Carrollton and Mary (Bob) Campitelli of Sherrodsville; 17 grandchildren, 26 great grandchildren, and a great great granddaughter; 3 sisters Janet M. Stotzer of Dover, Nancy Stinehour of Galion, Sheila Rae of Dover; 4 brothers Elmer (Alice) Tope of Bolivar, Dan (Ann) Tope of Sherrodsville, Bill (Nancy) Tope of Brunswick, Neil (Margaret) Tope of New Philadelphia, a son-in-law Jeff (Bonnie) Schrock of New Philadelphia and a large family of nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by a daughter Anna Marie Schrock.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, January 31, 2024 at 1:00 PM at the Lebold-Smith Funeral Home in Bolivar. Pastor Terry Wilcox will officiate and burial will follow in Leavittsville Cemetery. Friend may call on Wednesday from 11:00 AM until 1:00 PM at the funeral home. The family suggests memorial contributions be made to Community Hospice at 716 Commercial Ave. S.W. New Philadelphia, Ohio 44663.
