Clinton Williams, 86, of Columbus, Ohio, transitioned peacefully on November 10, 2025.

CLINTON WILLLIAMS, 86, departed this life after a long and fulfilling journey. A lifelong resident of Asheville, North Carolina, Clinton was born June 20, 1939, to the late Frank and Alice Searles Williams. For the past eleven years, he had made his home in Columbus, Ohio, where he was known as Deacon Williams, a faithful member of Second Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church, Pastor Christopher A. Bond, presides.

Clinton was on the Deacon board, a member of the Trustee Board, the Male chorus, and a host of other auxiliaries. Clinton was known to open the church to prepare for Sunday morning prayer services before Sunday morning services, where he, along with the deacons, ushered in the spirit of God, leading devotion service.

Clinton loved to sing, "It's Another Day's Journey and I'm Glad About It, and "Sit Down Servant," along with various other songs.

Clinton worked as a "chef" in Lexington, NC, and in Asheville, NC at Doll's and Hornes restaurants. He was a graduate of Stephens Lee High School, class of 1957, Asheville, NC. He was a layman, a member of 20th Century Lodge #682 for 40 years. Clinton was a faithful member of Stephens Lee Class of 1957, where he served as president, secretary and treasurer and member of the Alumni Association. Clinton retired from Colbond, Inc. after 29 years of dedicated service. In 2002, he began working for the Asheville City and Buncombe County School System, where he continued until his second retirement before relocating to Columbus, Ohio.

Clinton loved to walk daily and attend workout classes at Marion Franklin Senior Center and Scioto Senior Center, where he played Bid Whist in the evenings. He enjoyed golfing, cooking, and running (in his earlier years).

Clinton attended yearly Williams Family reunions, which were one of his proudest yearly things to do. He arrived with his infectious smile, energy and lead devotions during family meetings, banquet services, and held offices as chaplain, and where he reminded the family, "A family that prays together stays together."

Clinton was a longtime member of New Bethel Missionary Baptist Church, Asheville, NC, where he served for 38 years as Deacon, Chairman of the Trustee Board, Sunday School Superintendent, and member of the Gospel Choir and Male Chorus.

Clinton was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Mary Ruth Williams; his mother-in-law, Mary Tishie Clement; daughter, Lureatha Clement; grandson, Wilton H. Moore III; nephews James Henry, Richard Anderson, Brothers Frank, LeRoy, Ulysses, and Elbert Williams. Sisters, Pauline W. Jackson, Brenda Williams, Gloria Gary, and Alfredia W. Anderson. Brothers-in, laws-Alvin Byrd Sr., and Henry Lee Anderson.

Lovingly remembered and cherished by his daughters Brenda Clement and Patricia Moore of Asheville, NC, daughters Katrina and Mary Alice Williams (Thomas) of Columbus, Ohio, son Tyrone Green (Regina) of Asheville, NC. His sisters are Arlene W. Byrd, Pauline Williams of Asheville, NC, brother Charles Williams, and Joe N. Jackson Sr. of Columbus, Ohio. Grandchildren-Floyd (Julie), Rochelle, Christopher, and Troy Clement, Janice Moore, Trironda (Maurice), all of Asheville, and Tamara (Michael), Columbus, OH. As well as a host of great grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, nieces-Donna Jackson, Demetria Williams, Lisa Henry, Kendra B. Hannon (Richard), Regeane Parker nephews-Ulyssess Williams (Tracey), Lee Anderson, Mark Henry, Joe Jackson Jr., Alvin Byrd Jr. (Michelle), Kevin Byrd (Tammy), Vance Williams (Juana), Courtney Anderson, and very special cousins, extended family and dear friends.

Clinton never met a stranger-he lived his faith openly, touched countless lives through his kindness, humor, and generosity. He fought a faithful fight and remained steadfast in his devotion to Christ until his very last breath.

Clinton Williams' life was a testament of faith, prayer, family, and service. His legacy of love, devotion, and encouragement will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, November 22, 2025, from 10:00 am - 11:00 am with a Funeral Service immediately following at Second Shiloh Baptist Church, 1295 Faber Ave, Columbus, Ohio 43207.
