In Loving Memory of Clo Seegmiller Jensen

January 22, 1930 - April 23, 2025

Clo Seegmiller Jensen passed away peacefully on April 23, 2025, in St. George, Utah, at the age of 95, surrounded by the family she loved so dearly. Born on January 22, 1930, in St. George to Paul and Edith Seegmiller, Clo was the fifth of nine children and grew up in a vibrant, close-knit family alongside her siblings: Fayone Whitehead, Paul Seegmiller, Foy Seegmiller, Tana Sullivan, VanDyne Wilson, Janet Gubler, Diane Peterson, and Linda Beatty.

On January 30, 1954, Clo married Charles Manuele in Los Angeles. Together, they had 8 children. Their youngest son, Tony, who had Down Syndrome, was her heart's companion. The two were inseparable best friends, and Clo devoted herself to his care with unwavering love until his passing when she was 80 years old. On December 4, 1976, Clo married Grant Jensen, and together they blended their bustling families-her eight children and his five. With thirteen kids between them, life was a whirlwind of laughter, love, and complete chaos - holidays required a seating chart, and dinner was more of an event than a meal.

A trailblazer in her time, Clo earned her bachelor's degree in nursing from UCLA, graduating with top honors. She dedicated her career to healing and helping others, working in public health, hospitals, schools, and the behavioral medicine unit. Her nursing was not just a profession but an extension of her compassion, deep empathy, skill, and steady heart.

Clo was a fierce advocate for individuals with disabilities. She served on numerous boards, fought for policy change, and opened hearts and minds through her tireless efforts and personal example. Service was her calling card.

Tennis was her passion-she played in any weather (snow included) with intensity and joy, rarely missing a chance to compete. She won many gold and silver medals throughout her 60 years on the court and often joined the men's league for extra challenge and competition. A lifelong learner, Clo was rarely seen without her "study bag" filled with books, articles, scriptures, and her journal. She read and wrote everywhere-from beauty salons and doctor's offices to the sidelines of sporting events and movie theaters (flashlight in hand). She lived to learn and share her wisdom and knowledge with others.

When Clo wasn't busy caring for her children or serving others, you could find her at the temple, on the tennis court, or with a book in hand. She also enjoyed the theater, travel, music, singing, couples dancing, exercise, nutritious foods, and living a healthy lifestyle.

Her love of travel took her across Europe for four years, and later to South America, Egypt, Israel, and Africa-places she embraced with wonder and gratitude.

Clo's life was deeply rooted in faith. A devoted, dedicated disciple of Jesus Christ, she lived her beliefs in both word and action. She served missions with her husband, Grant, in Canada and Hawaii, spent over 50 years doing family history and temple work, and approached every calling with fervent devotion. She was a scholar of scripture and a spiritual matriarch, leading her family with infinite wisdom, unwavering faith, example, and grace.

Clo was the beating heart of her family, the steady anchor in every storm, and the light that guided so many.

She is survived by her children, Chuck Manuele (Stefanie), Mike Manuele (Shiela), Marc Manuele (Julie), Monique Callahan (Kevin), Greg Manuele (Margie), Paula Temple (Steve), Gina Brown (Travis), Bruce Jensen (Cathy), Randy Jensen (Lourdes), Marjorie Jensen, Sue Broadhead (Rod), and her sisters Diane Peterson and Linda Beatty and over a hundred grand and great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by both of her spouses, Charles Manuele and Grant Jensen, by her youngest son, Tony, her stepson Ernie, her parents, six siblings, and three grandchildren, Michael J, Brady, and Angie.
