Clothenia Stepp Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Peck Funeral Home - Hartselle on Dec. 8, 2025.
Clothenia "Coco" Fugitt Stepp of Hartselle, AL, passed away peacefully on December 6, 2025 leaving behind a legacy of a faith-filled life of Christian service to her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, her family and the churches where she was involved. She was born on Feb. 10, 1939 in Red Bay AL to Samuel Watson (S.W.) Fugitt and Aloha Ramey Fugitt. Growing up in Red Bay, she met a boy when she was in sixth grade, Alvis Guy (A.G.) Stepp, a seventh grader. They became sweethearts and married as soon as he returned from service in the USAF in 1959. She was a loyal, devoted wife of 66 years and was instrumental in leading her husband to Christ in 1969. He later surrendered to the ministry where Coco excelled in serving as a Pastor's wife. She loved to play the piano or organ, sew, sing and serve in any capacity needed by her church family.
Her most treasured role was that of a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great mother to her family! In addition to being survived by her husband, A. G., she also leaves her sister, Sammye Fugitt Brown, her daughter, Joi Stepp Wasill (Bill), son, Randy Stepp (Renee); three grandchildren, Katie Stepp Osborne (Drew), Laura Beth Stepp Kirkpatrick (Jared) and Jacob Wasill (Caitlin) of Yukon, OK. Her great grandchildren were a joy and delight to her as well: Charlie Osborne and Reagan Osborne, Griffin Kirkpatrick and Evie Grace Kirkpatrick and her newest great grandchild arriving any day, Holly Joi Wasill. She was preceded in death by her parents, S W and Aloha Fugitt, her father and mother-in-law, Guy and Lois Stepp, and her sister, Theresa Fugitt McNabb.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Wednesday, December 10, 2025, at Mt. Zion Baptist Church, Hartselle, AL with visitation from 10:30 am – 12:00 noon, and service beginning at 12:00.
Coco will be deeply missed by all who knew, loved and were touched by her love and the legacy of faith will live on in each one of us. Her family are comforted that she is in the most wonderful place ever created, Heaven, with the most wonderful Savior and God and is "praising her Savior all the day long"!
