Join us in honoring the life and legacy of Clyde Paul Ankenbauer, a devoted family man, avid cyclist, and dedicated engineer assistant. Born on September 25, 1935, in
Cincinnati, Ohio, Clyde's journey on this earth came to a peaceful close on October 22, 2024.
Throughout his life, Clyde found joy in cycling through the streets of North College Hill and challenging his mind with cryptograms and puzzles. Above all, his greatest source of happiness was the time spent with his beloved family, whom he cherished deeply.
Clyde was united in marriage to C. Sue Luensman, and together they shared many wonderful years until her passing in 2001. He was also preceded in death by his parents, Esther and Howard Ankenbauer, a son, Michael Ankenbauer, brother, Howard C. Ankenbauer and his wife Eveylyn, and a granddaughter, Leslie Catherine Hiller.
A graduate of St. Margaret Mary in North College Hill, attended North College Hill High school and then he continued his education by taking night classes at the University of Cincinnati. He dedicated over 40 years of his life to Cincinnati Gas and Electric, where he worked as an engineer assistant. In later years, he volunteered at the North College Hill Historical Society as the secretary. He enjoyed sharing his knowledge of N.C.H. history and was an aficionado of old time radio.
Clyde is survived by his loving children: Marty (Dr. Susan Lowe-Thomas) Ankenbauer, Dave (Nanette) Ankenbauer, Dan (Cindy) Ankenbauer, Laurie (Rob) Hiller, and Tom (Christine) Ankenbauer; grandchildren, Kristin (Matt) Deitsch, Liz (Christopher) Gannon, Grace Ankenbauer, Michael Ankenbauer, Anna Ankenbauer, great-grandchildren, Declan Deitsch, Rhys Deitsch and Clara Gannon and many extended relatives and friends.
