Clyde Caldwell Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by John M. Ireland & Son Funeral Home and Chapel on Jan. 11, 2024.
Clyde Burton Caldwell of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, went Home to the Lord on Monday, January 8, 2024, at the age of 85. Clyde was born in Tulsa, Oklahoma, on April 21, 1938, the son of Irene and Arla F. Caldwell. He attended high school in Iraan, Texas, and shortly thereafter, heard his country's call, joining the United States Army. On September 2, 1962, he married the love of his life, Anna, in a beautiful ceremony in Garden City, Kansas.
Clyde was in the Army for 21 years, completing two tours of Korea before retiring and receiving an honorable discharge for his services. During his time in the military, Clyde and Anna traveled all over Europe and Germany together. After his retirement from the Army, Clyde went to work at Hillcrest Christian Church for the next 20 years, where he was also a faithful member of the congregation.
Clyde enjoyed yardwork, working puzzles, and building model cars. He was a dedicated OU Sooners fan who looked forward to football season every year, and he loved watching westerns, especially anything featuring John Wayne. Clyde also loved to spoil his dogs. He was outgoing and friendly. He enjoyed talking to people and staying active. Clyde and Anna loved going to dinner together every week, and they particularly loved having breakfast for dinner! Clyde simply adored his family, always happiest when everyone could be together. He had such fond memories of the many camping and fishing trips with his family over the years, and especially treasured the time he spent with his grandchildren later in life. He was a loving husband, father, brother, grandfather, and a true friend to many. Clyde's love for his church and for his family was deep, and meaningful. His zest for life will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him.
Preceding him in death are his parents, two children, Frankie and Benjamin Caldwell, and his sister, Doris.
Left to cherish his memory are his wife of 61 years, Anna Caldwell, of the home; two children, son Chris Caldwell and his wife Jana of Oklahoma City, OK, and daughter Sarah Hancock and her husband Brad of Dallas, TX. Clyde is also survived by one brother, Lloyd Caldwell of Oklahoma City, along with two grandchildren, Ryan Hancock, and Olivia Caldwell, and many more loved ones and friends.
